If Texas A&M was invited to the SEC, would they do better or worse than Arkansas

Arkansas record from 1992-2010 in the SEC

127-101-2, .557 winning percentage
72-81-2 conference record
Three SEC championship game appearances
Zero SEC titles
One major bowl game appearance (2011 Sugar Bowl)
Zero major bowl wins

I think they would do worse even though Arkansas football has been uninspiring to say the least since they've been in the SEC. Wasn't Arkansas a better program than Texas A&M when the two schools were in the SWC?

About the same. I think many of the TX HS prospects may be intrigued by playing in the SEC though.

Arkansas actually has a better head to head record vs A&M than LSU does I believe.

They'd be somewhere in between Ole Miss/MSU and Arky.

About the same. Texas A&M and Arkansas parallel each other a good bit, just look back at the SWC days. Arkansas actually did well against A&M in h2h games (37-22-3). But, A&M edged out Arkansas in SWC titles - 17 to 13. Texas A&M is in a much more talent rich area but they lose those best recruits to OU/UT primarily anyways, going to the SEC wouldn't change that.

Either way A&M wont be an upper half team in this conference just like Arkansas isn't. The conference has parity, but really only among the Top 6 historical teams in the conference who have all won the conference since 1976 and no one else.

Start looking towards the future because BP is starting a powerhouse program in Fayetteville. Prepare for your whippings SEC. We'll be what Auburn was last year except will be doing it without cheating.

agree with all of this

who did better in a given time period is probably most dependent on who has a better coach in that period

I'd give them at least a 50% chance of winning the SEC once in their first 20 years in the conference tho

Totally agree - I think A&M's overall talent level would increase to equal Arkansas.

If they were to start getting a good portion of the state's top talent then they would surpass them in a couple of years.

I don't think Arky has more talent than A&M right now - they just do a good job of developing their players
