As an Oregon resident, I love this conspiracy theory.

Knight has been spending money like crazy lately. He just tried to buy the governor's race but sadly the GOP candidate he backed couldn't make his free throws down the stretch and lost a close one. Knight is a little pissed at the liberals raising his income taxes. He got the state legislature to make the city of Beaverton back off on annexation efforts (would have meant major league increase in property taxes for Nike's campus). Like him or not, dude has power.

So let's promote this conspiracy!

One last side note, the local media was surprised that UofO isn't promoting LaMichael James for Heisman with another Times Square billboard or some kind of huge ad campaign. Apparently, that's not Chip Kelly's style and he wants the team focused on Win The Day and not individual success. We'll see how it works out... but Kelly has quite the bandwagon in this state now. He'd win the governor's race in a landslide.
