RE: you hate uga fans' unrealistic expectations?

What ARE unrealistic expectations for uga?

i've seen MANY an opinion on here that uga has UNDERACHIEVED under richt. i would interpret that to mean the general opinion is the sky's the limit for uga football.

thus the high (you: unrealistic) expectations for uga football.

UGA was one of the best teams in the SEC during the last decade... I can't say that they underachieved... biggest problem remains an inability to beat Florida even in years when they are probably better and should

If I were a realistic UGA fan I'd put myself in the category of Florida, Bama, LSU and expect to contend for the division most years and occasionally win the SEC or more... should be a rebound year for UGA and LSU or changes may hit both programs

Trust me, you won't be seeing any changes (firings) after this year and we are going to really surprise some folks. It is mindnumbing how bad/poorly coached we've been on defense the past 2 years. The LB coach we had had since 2005 was honestly the worst coach ever on a CMR staff and it ain't close. We are going to be SO much better on D this year due to coaching alone and some addition by subtraciton in the secondary, then throw in the fact that there's nowhere to go but up in the turnover and penalties department. People think that because we have a new QB and a new defense we're going to go 8-5 again, but that is far from the case. We are going to be a much, much tougher opponent this year than we were last year I can assure you.

Well put. I've like murray all along and with ealey and king back there and green on the outside, mixed in with out VETERAN oline(who would of thought that was possible ) I think we will open some eyes

i agree with you totally, Mo.

an ole miss fan expecting to challenge for the sec west almost every year is unrealistic.

a uga fan expecting to compete for the sec east almost every year is not. and that's what i believe most uga fans expect, mmjones.

If UGA is really better this year (like they could be) there is actually no one on their regular season who you can expect them to lose to (well, barring florida cause they always seem to)

9-3/10-2 this year regular season IMO... might be in the SEC CCG

But I expect you'll see a lot of guys from Arkansas, Auburn, & Florida who disagree

Yeah we should be pretty damn good on offense, we return 10 starters with Murray being the only question mark. And I am so damn fired up about the defense I can hardly see straight. Just think about the ridiculous amount of athleticism with Justin Houston and Richard Samuel being our 2 OLBs Rambo and Hitman at safety, Boykin and Smith at CB...man we're gonna be improved.

Let's hope we improve. I make no predictions until after the first game.

Yeah I've realistically said 9-3 or 10-2 is about where we should be reasonably pegged. I don't see how we'll lose 4 games and 11-1 would take some hella luck. Also 10-2 MIGHT be asking a bit too much from a freshman QB, although he did redshirt and was a top 3 national QB recruit. David Greene wasn't nearly as heralded as Murray and he went 8-4 his first year. That year had a better (or should I say more proven) D than this year's but this year has a better O, so 10-2 seems about right I think.

Haha, so you won't know if we'll beat UT until after we whoop on on ULL first? Sorry, I just found that comment kind of humorous.

Humorous or not, I'm not going to be as bold and say 9-3 so I can be ridiculed later on for having such high expectations. If we are committing penalties and such the first game like we normally do, you're damn skippy I'll have a better feel on how the season may go.

10-2 is a farrrr stretch for a RSFr QB. Jefferson didn't even go 10-2 in his first full year as a starter.

I'll tell ya, RSFr QB.

Will be slightly better, but whole new system than the previous. UGA hasn't recurited to run a 3-4 D. It is going to take some time to fill in the right personel.

I think UGA will over acheive if they go 8-4.

Most of the SEC East will probably be worse next year than they were this year... esp florida and ut

from the west they draw arky and auburn, both could be very good or could be still a step short of that... their schedule is very difficult if they are mediocre but very manageable if they are very good

I'm guessing 9-3/10-2 but it's hard to argue the freshman QB thing being an issue... LSU was 9-3 in 2004 with a generally strong team and QB issues... and 8-5 in 2008 with a lousy defense and QB issues

He is going to make some dumbass Freshman mistakes that is going to cost them games.

UT wasn't suppose to be in the same stadium last year as UGA and UT pounded their arse. All UGA has to do is hit the city limit sign of Jacksonville and they lose to UF. It doesn't matter if UF is suppose to shitty or not.

BTW neither going to be as bad as you say.

florida might have been the second best team in the country last year... you don't think they are going to be a few steps worse than that?

maybe, I don't live in Georgia so I don't have the same passion for hating UGA you have picked up

Anyway, last year IMO was clearly the worst UGA team that has hit the field recently... they had issues... this year's team could go either way but my default thinking is that Richt will right the ship and they will be substantially improved

Comparing Florida and UGA, default is to say Florida will be better but they had a down year in 2007 even with tebow at the helm... so clearly if they have QB issues with their new starter or their replacements on defense don't make a smooth transition? or meyer's health really is bad and he's not around or not the same when he is around? Sure, there are reasonable reasons to wonder if Florida will be a 10 plus win team

And I'd be surprised if Tennessee wins more than 6 games next year... maybe 7 if they get 6 and a favorable bowl opponent... just lost some people and putting in a new system with a new coaching staff
