Does a one loss SEC team automatically play in the MNCG?

For sake of argument...say LSU beats Bama and UF in the SECCG. All three have only one loss. Does a one loss SEC team automatically make it in the MNCG? And if so, is there an SEC formula that would dictate which one would go, or would it be the SEC champion?

No, it's not automatic. Winner of the SECCG goes. If they don't, why play the game?

UGA argued two years ago that winning the conference championship didn't matter...

No. An undefeated BCS team deserves to go over a 1 loss SEC team.

THe formula is the BCS formula. Technically, it has nothing to do with who wins the championship. If a team is no. 1 or 2 in the BCS formula, that team is in the BCSCG. That's it. If an SEC team is in the no. 1 or no. 2 slot, the team is in. The one-loss SEC champ, however, will be ranked higher than either of the other 1 loss teams in the conference. If LSU wins out, LSU will have beaten both of other teams head to head and the SECCG win over Florida would matter more in the rankings than the first meeting in BR.
But in any event, it will be the SEC champ or or no SEC team in the BCSCG. The rules don't require that, but for all practical purposes that is what would happen. It is theoretically possible for an SEC team other than the SEC champ to get into the BCSCG, but highly unlikely.

I recall that. And fair enough perhaps at the end of the season they were playing the best football of any SEC team. Problem is games in the middle of the season count too. One reason why I don't want a playoff system. In the SEC if you have NC hopes, every game is a playoff game.

That makes sense...
But I'm interested in the human polls and how they would look.

Not all BCS conferences are created equal. Sorry but an undefeated Big East team that plays a schedule that lacks credibility does not deserve the BCSCG over a one loss SEC team, assuming that the one loss is to an opponent better than any team in the Big East and the SEC champion has wins over better teams than any team in the Big East.

Just remember that the 2 loss team had more wins against ranked teams than any other team in the country that season (including 2 victories over 2 BCS conference champs). And that 2 loss team was probably better than any team in the country this year. (Which is a commentary about the lack of a truly great team this year in CFB).

no, not automatically. there is the matter of the polls which are voted by folks from all over the country. expect an SEC backlash somewhere along the road.
