“You know everybody has the chance to do things their way,” said Fulmer, who is about to be unveiled as a CBS studio analyst. “We were very pleased with what we were able to accomplish during the majority of our time at Tennessee, and we did it without having to be brash and so on.
But this is his style, what he thought he had to do. “We didn’t have a very good season last year. I certainly take full responsibility for that. And now it’s (Kiffin’s) turn to do it as he thinks he needs to do it. But the problem in this league is you’re going to play great football teams every week once you get into the Southeastern Conference schedule.
So, if you’re going to be brash, you’d better be able to back it up.”

Or you could be like Fulmer and be neither brash nor back anything up.

I hate Fulmer. You're right, he didn't accomplish anything there. In fact, everything he did there... pfft, it was worthless enough to vacate all of those wins and not have a much different win/loss record.
I hate UT. It'll be great to watch your new coach externalize your innards. He'll show the nation what UT is ALL about. And still lose ;)
Least I hope.

He may slip off this weekend in Gainesville or next year in BR and check out the big crystal footballs they have.

A head football coach is obviously the leader of his team and represents the associated institution. IMHO a "brash" coach will attract brash/undisciplined players and is not a good reflection of the school and community he represents. Hopefully a little humble pie will temper Mr. Kiffin's attitude and leave UT with a solid coach. If not, the Vols might looking for another coach a lot sooner than expected.

Kiff can only DREAM of doing as well:

Fulmer had a national title and nine 10-or-more-win seasons during his Tennessee tenure

Agree. Fulmer is a good person with an outstanding overall record at UT including a NC. Only time will tell if Kiffin measures up but so he's not looking good in terms of character and only time will tell with the win/loss record.
