We need Petrino or Leach. If they say no maybe a smaller school head coach with an offensive mind.
Neither of those,Chad Morris or Brohm are happening.

if you don't think any of them come then Les miles is an absolute no.

If the 1 year ban somehow stands i think we have a decent chance to get any of those guys if they like money. 2 years and we might as well keep Matt Luke another year. No decent coach will sign themselves up for a year of terrible recruiting and no players left.

Hiring Les Miles would be following the same recipe that got us in this position in the first place. Making lazy, uninspired hires like Ed Orgeron, Houston Nutt, and Hugh Freeze.

To be a big boy program you have to act like a big boy program. Would Alabama, Florida State, or Clemson be hiring Les Miles at this point? No. Then why should we?

We're not getting anyone Ala, Fla St or Clemson would consider.

That being said, Miles would be an uninspired hire (though I bet he would take the job). His performance declined in his later years at LSU

It's amazing who people think we can get. Look at who we've gotten so far. Look at the dipshits that TN, FL, LSU, and Arky have hired. Those are way better jobs than ours.

We are gonna end up with an up and coming mid major coach who is currently making less than $1 million a year, if we're lucky.

If not, we will end up with a coordinator no one has ever heard of.

While Purdue, Minnesota, UVA, VT, etc. have all managed better hires

Fact of the matter is it's very difficult to judge a hire until after that hire has or has not produced. Never been a better example of hindsight being 20/20 than the hiring of a college football coach.

Two issues with this:

1) It's no coincidence. The SEC West Meatgrinder isn't where an up and coming hotshot coach wants to make a name for himself. He is better doing that in the B10 or the ACC. Where he doesn't have Bama, Auburn, LSU etc in back to back weeks.

2) You are confusing Cause and Effect. Those guys aren't winning just because they are good coaches. They're winning because they're not in the SEC. Butch stomped dick at Cincinnati. Send him back there and he will probably stomp even more dick.

A good team in a weak conference is a great job. A bad team in the toughest conference in football is not a good job.

We have the least appealing job, on its merits, in the country. The ONLY thing we have going for us is being able to offer $4-5 million a year. But the coach that takes that contract is doing so thinking that it is the last major contract he will ever sign. That is the reason the buyouts are so big. $12-15 million buyouts? That's crazy. Until you realize that guys like Nutt, Freeze, Butch, Bert, O, etc may never sign another major deal after this one. Go 4-8 a couple of times and they will lynch you down here.

90% of the coaches out there see Ole Miss as a dead end job.

I think you only take Les if the sanctions are harsh. Les is a good recruiter, and he might just say frick it and bring in a spread guy. I'll tell you one thing: LSU really misses his input for OL. It's pretty clear he helped Jeff Grimes out a lot with that unit.

I still think it's a dead giveaway that Ole Miss should hire Frank Wilson. He's going to be a star. If O fails (or maybe "when") I have zero doubt he's going to be LSU's first target

Careful Tigerbait, there are many in here that think he isn’t even worthy of an interview

Frank is a legend in Louisiana high school football. Ole Miss would automatically have a huge presence in Louisiana. That plus Mississippi talent would be dangerous. I'm also excited about the Texas inroads he's building right now

I just hope that if eh does take the job, a low buyout is in place if he were to leave for LSU. While I doubt Ole Miss would agree to that, Chad Morris has a clause like that at SMU if A&M ever offered him the job.

Want someone whose out to prove themselves (probably never been a HC) and has energy (like Luke or Orgeron) and has an air raid offense.

Yeah who wants someone who has won SEC championships and a national championship? Morons.

But let's go get Chad Morris who has a losing record as a head coach! LOGIC!!!

By this logic, you would also prefer Gene Chizik over Chad Morris.

I don’t like your logic.

When does Luke have energy? He must use it all up before the games because he seems to just stand there with his thumbs up his arse waiting on the games to end.

That's because he's the CEO. He lets his assistants coach. I'm just thankful Freeze isn't here to handcuff Longo's offense.
