I could accept that IF there was anything known about that kid. On the cuff...maybe...but I havent seen him play or practice. You could be right, or wrong.

Lets face it...that could be said about all of them if I wanted to argue with myself.

I am not saying he is a small peice of a puzzle at all....what I am saying is that I think he has a foot hold at getting meaningful snaps...THIS...THIS leads him to opportunity which could lead to being the MAN. For a guy that has 3 years ahead of him....thats a pretty good start. IMO.

If he was a distant third in which it looks like he would never have a role (opportunity) then he would have a point. At this level....an opportunity is all you want and need.

Brunetti never took over....but he can't argue he never had opportunity.

If RB does not win this battle...I would think he would be the third wheel. IMO

Not directed at anyone, but I wish people would quit talking about Shea as if he is proven. There are bust all the time. While I hope that isn't the case, Pellerin could be the next Dak Prescott. Kills me people automatically assuming Shea will be great. Scouts have gotten it wrong before.

Oh I am 100% all in. Shea will be the greatest QB ever and may possibly win 3 or 4 Heismans. And afterwards the Heisman will be renamed The Shea.

Odds are that he will be a pretty good qb. Guess I'm just one to temper expectations. Same way I was one of the ones stating RB might beat out Kincade when they arrived.

No I agree with you, it's unfair to put all these expectations on 18 year olds. I'm glad Shea is getting a year in a completely new system with all new teammates. I think if he has another really incredible season his year it will be a strong indication that he truly is a good QB and isn't the product of a system. Even still it's impossible to know how that translates to college. I just posted that list because I was curious myself how many 5 star QBs actually pan out and that was the best list that popped up.

That's the thing. Yeah the list was pretty much 50/50 Good/Bust ratio. But those odds are awesome. Look up the Good/Shitty ratios of 4 star, 3 star, 2 star, and unranked players. Yes there are outliers. But without a doubt when a player is 5 star they are more likely to be successful over any other ranking

Also, a solid portion of those busts sucked because they were head cases.

Yeah and Shea is obviously a head case... he committed and decommitted and has been whoring his brother to get jobs around the coaching circle. Not to mention he betrayed his teammates at Calvary to play for some pretentious training school.

so many issues there.

By the way, don't buy any lip service that Kelly isn't the clear-cut No. 1. He has played better than the other two and it isn't close. Kelly will be our quarterback all season unless he falters significantly on or off the field. Right now, he's the absolute guy.

The only bit I saw of him was the spring game.

He looked magnificent on his first drive and then didn't play again until late in the game. I took that as Hugh not wanting to show too much.

Buchanan and Kincade looked not so good and played most of the snaps in the spring game. They had plenty of opportunities to impress and did not.

Kelly will be the guy, of that I have no doubt.

The coaches are making it seem like it's still a three-man race for a couple of reasons. But the roles are clear-cut at this point.

Kelly=Unquestioned starter
Buchanan=Mop-up duty and backup in case Kelly gets hurt, arrested or makes too many mistakes.
Kincade=Brunetti role, he'll play a good bit and will come in when we want to go fast.
Liggins=Same packages as last year.

That's what I'm thinking. The "race" was nothing more than standard coach-speak

I think you got it right except I would take out liggins and insert Pellerin. I see no reason to redshirt.

Why wouldn't we redshirt Pellerin.

I really don't see the need if he can help this year....and yes I think he would be a huge step up in Liggins role.

Better question..... What the rumor that Tunsil is not playing tomorrow.

Since Swag us starting, can we sample his song on gameday after he throws deep to Treadwell and the student section starts the whiskey shower?
