Well, this is odd. I'm from MS, but never really had a dog in the hunt for the Egg Bowl. My family were mostly USM grads. However, I recently got hired to be a professor at Ole Miss, and I'm definitely looking forward to being a part of this board. I'm looking forward to finally watching this game with a vested interest, even though yelling "Hotty Toddy," still seems a little alien.

Thankfully, it's only once in a blue moon that I have a conflict of interest!

The conversion isn't too bad. I felt the same way. Was always torn when we played. Grew up going every weekend to Gainesville all of my family had season tickets and a RV. But over time while going to Football/Basketball/and Baseball games you convert. Slowly but surely. You won't even notice it till the next time OM plays UF. But when it happens and you find yourself on the edge of your seat for the Red and Blue you'll know it has happened.

Welcome aboard!

With a name like Lucius Sulla, you have to be either an English professor or a History one. Regardless, welcome to God's Country, I think you'll enjoy our town and university. Also, welcome to the board, you may not enjoy that as much.

UF will always have a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons. Great students, and they paid me to get a Ph.D. and travel the world. They saw something in me that I didn't even think I had and gave me an enormous opportunity that I'm still not sure I completely deserved.

That being said, I'm happy to be going back home and make a positive contribution to where I grew up. The guest lecture I did there was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the students there as well. I might have done my undergrad there if I'd see it more from the academic side, but then again, I was hell bent for leather to get out of where I grew up when I was 18.

I'll keep the department I'm in under my hat as I have been a bit saucy here over the years and probably will in the future, but it isn't English or history. There was a time when I was a history major, but life takes you in other directions sometimes. Been a fun ride though, and sometimes the road ends up taking you back to where you started it would seem.
