Now that the dust has settled and we all had a fun weekend, let's discuss the actual state of our team, and how much can we really take away from that win as a positive.

Our defense obviously stepped up in a huge way, and played like we all know we could before the season. I rewatched some of the game last night, and I just didn't realize in person how bad Allen was. It was shocking and almost sad. How much of our own good performance can we actually pin on ourselves? There's obviously some major issues going on internally with A&M.

3rd and short offense continues to disappoint. It makes me sad.

That's all I got. I had an awesome time, and I kept telling people all week "I think we're going to come out and beat the shite out of them, just to mess with my head"

Well there you go. Breeland Speaks is gonna be so good once he polishes up his tackling.

Breeland and Robert need to play next to eachother. They would terrorize the middle of the line.

There were a few horribly blown assignments by the LBs particularly Caldwell where RSJ was wide open but Allen missed him. Those are things that can be corrected. Energy was finally back. Guys actually played. The previous game energy reminded me of a spring game.

Whatever tackling drill they did they need to continue doing it because the tackling was night and day.

Elston and Hilton are going to be missed next year. Those two are very good.

Right now for me the major concern is just the team health. 10 games in a row is a lot in any sport but especially football.

Once again I have to show my basic football ignorance here. So someone help me out.

I was under the impression that we ran a 4-2-5. But I thought Isaac Gross played nosegard. Was Gross a starter? If not, does this mean we put him in on passing plays where we had 5 down linemen? Or running plays where we stacked the box with 6-7 down linemen?

So, along those lines, who replaced Isaac this year? Why can't Speaks take his place?

I'll hang up and listen.

Gross is at his best against the pass due to his small size but a crazy fast first step that many offensive linemen have trouble dealing with. Robert, Woodrow, Breeland, and DJ Jones all bring a lot more mass to a run game. I think Woodrow Hamilton lines up with Robert much of the time. Could be wrong.

Edit: I know that Gross played against the run last year plenty but I think that was because we didn't have these guys all available to do that job.

Things that went Good:

- Oline went great. I think Sims might be better than Morris. Morris had 3 FS penalties last night that hurt. I didn't notice Bell at center but I guess that is a good thing. No penalties or bad snaps.
- We were decent on short yardage. Not as good as we could have been but better than the last 2 weeks. The first jet sweep worked great but we lined up and ran the exact same thing the next time for a loss. If Liggins keeps there he runs for a 10 yard gain.
- Defense takcled much better. Speaks is very disruptive but could have finished off a couple more plays. Robert did the same thing. He will learn to finish.
- I noticed gates on a lot of tackles. Screens and crossing routes. He looked to be flying around.
- Coverage was great except 1 or 2 missed coverages. Elston is ball hawking right now. Hilton played well again. If/when Tony comes back having Hilton and Elston at Safety are going to be nasty.
- Wunderlick punting. Holy hell, frick the rugby shite and let him bomb it.

Things that went bad:
- I thought we went a little too conservative on play calling after we went up 23-3. We tried to crank it up again halfway through the 4th and Swag threw that pick. It's hard to get going again once you turn it off.
- Finishing plays. Had a few chances for TFL and let them get back to the line of scrimgae.
- We never jumped on their throat. Had plenty of chances but didnt finish the game off.
- Swags INT's and the "fumble". Have to clean that up. Hard to win having a 4 TO game and probably wont going forward.

Edit: On Gross and Speaks. Speaks plays the same position as Robert. Do you move Speaks to start along side Robert or do you keep Speaks to be a force when Robert needs a breather? I can understand both sides of the argument.

He's miles ahead of Still. Watch a replay. Still gets beat every time, but Bell holds his own. Bell is a great center, terrible guard. He doesn't need to be asked to pull.

Liggins did keep it and got stuffed.

Really doubting this, but if he makes it back for LSU and we're 8-2, then it's on.

He's great when we need to boom it, but I don't think he has the accuracy or ability to pin it inside the 20 that Gleeson does.

This is classic Freeze. This is what lost the 2012 TAMU game and if Allen didn't suck then this would have been a danger again.

Kelly is a gunslinger like Bo, but he actually has the arm to make those throws most of the time. Mostly he needs to learn to take the open passes to the flats. Judd was wide open on Kelly's last INT.

The first 3rd and short we gave it to Wilkins on the sweep that worked. The second time the A&M DE shot up field and got us for a 6 yard lost on the same play with Wilkins. Liggins didn't have a carry Sat night.

Wunderlick had 2 inside the 10.

Huh, how could you miss how bad Still was? Every time he was in he did not get an "surge" on running plays and let the pocket collapse from the fron on pass plays (which is one of the worse things for a QB because they can't step into their passes).

Absolutley, positively 1,000% agree with Wanderin on this one. Bell may have found his home if he can get his shotgun snap more consistent (the only negative thing I really noticed from him).

I phrased it wrong but it was under "things that went well". I was getting Bell props. When you don't notice an Olineman that is a compliment.

I'm almost positive Liggins kept it the second time we ran it. Could be wrong, though.

Looking at the stats sheet from Saturday I guess I'm wrong. I hallucinated. LoL

Gonna be hard to keep Speaks just in a backup role. He needs to be on the field as much as possible if he continues to play as he did Saturday.

I like Speaks in the "sixth man" type role. You keep a impact player in the middle at all times.

Bell never needs to play guard again. He was much better at center. Saw him pull at guard once again and fell on his face, never getting to the actual defender who made the tackle for a loss.

I would like to see Breeland and Robert wreck shite the rest of the year.

I would also like Freeze to hire a short yardage specialist.

I'll take the job for $10 an hour and a 5 dollar footlong toasted and dressed how I like it for my signing bonus

Fahn has played left tackle all season.

Line up with Bell at Center, Morris at LG, Laremy at LT and Fahn outside of Laremy so we're heavy to the left side wiht 2 tackles.. Line up Engram off the line of scrimmage outside of Fahn.. Engram cracks back on the outside LB and everyone else blocks straight up field... Hand it off to Judd.. If you cant gain a yard running behind your 2 best Olinemen you're not gonna win in this league anyway.

I have never coached a down of organized football in my life and I came up with this while clearing a bowl yesterday.. Our head coach is too green to be making 4 million+ a year.

Looked to me like the only times we handed it to Judd on 3rd and short we ran the ball right... What quarter did we line up in this formation and run left with Judd ? Not saying you're wrong, just asking
