Remember when the announcers pointed out we had 3 lineman available to pick up Lawson (I believe it was him) on one play? They replayed it as it was too comical not to. The tackle played patty cakes with him, the guard gave him a slap on the back as to say "Good luck buddy, go get 'em!", and the center was doing a waltz by himself spinning in circles. That one play summed up our current o-line. The majority of the time they just looked absolutely lost and didn't know how to defend a three man rush. Luke's gotta go. We have to get someone who can teach these guys about assignments, techniques, and bring in some depth.

I'm afraid we have some real talent, but they're not smart enough to think on their feet and run the offense Hugh wants to on their own. I'm not calling them dumb, they're just not being coached right as it's almost impossible to don't on your own. They need coaching help from someone who's experienced running this style of offense. A great athlete at 6'4 350 pounds can look like a world beater against kids half his size in high school with little to no technique. There just aren't many Tunsil's out there who naturally have both coming out of high school. You're better off with a less talented athlete who at least knows assignments so he can get a hand on his block and slow them down. That's better than just letting guys run free. O-line is a difficult position to play, and you have to coach these kids effectively to excel at the position. The o-line should watch just as much film and study as the quarterback to do their job effectively. You can argue it's just as, if not more important to redshirt linemen to give them time to develop and learn what they need to as you do a quarterback. He's proven for years he can't get these kids ready to play at the college level, even when he's coaching natural NFL talent.
