I think we need to play him. If we want to get any momentum going into the off season it will be him leading us to a bowl and showing flashes of what he can do in the years to come. If Shea is really as good as he's supposed to be he's gone after 3 years regardless of him RS this year so why not play him. If we don't play him we lose out 100% and will have 0 momentum going into the offseason.

ETA: also wanted to add that in not mad at Freeze for holding him out until now. It was smart since we had an all American under center, but with Chad going down it completely changes how we operate. Shea won't be getting garbage time. The games will be won on his back.

You guys do realize that our OL Saturday was a patchwork effort due to injuries right? The goal was rest the injured OL and get them healthy for the final 3 games.

In regards to burning Shea's RS, go for it. The thought process of packing it in for the rest of the season is not the attitude you want from a football team or staff.

This. We're in a funk, and a promising showing of the future could bring a lot back into the fold.

By doing so we risked our star QB and it cost us, big time. With that being said, if our defense was worth a shite we would have had a big enough lead at halftime to make sure Kelly didn't have to play the 2nd half.

If there is one thing I know with any second guessing or doubt, and that's that I'm glad I'm not having to make this decision. This is likely the most difficult decision of Freeze's tenure in Oxford. To play or not to play Patterson. Wow, just wow!

There are so many levels to consider on this. As someone else mentioned, what about Pellerin? He actually looked pretty good the other day. If you bench him and bring in Patterson that shows zero confidence in him. And I sure don't want a situation where you burn that redshirt and sorta platoon the two. Let's don't kid ourselves, Patterson wouldn't be perfect behind a limping Oline, not much a running game and paired with that weak defense. So instantly it's gonna be like, OK, let's see what Pellerin can do for a few snaps. Geez.

This is quite the quandry. And add to the mix that everybody and their momma wants all our defensive coaches gone, but then hopefully that decision has already been made by Freeze. It's times like this we see why these coaches make they money they do.

Who cares he isn't the future at QB. He is going to be exactly what he is now. Goal Line and short yardage.

How is that going to be any different from next year? I want to RS Shea. But its not like the situation is going to be any better next year.

I hope he decides to NOT burn the redshirt, but I have too many things I need to devote actual energy to this morning than to pretend I actually give a shite.

Thanks Chad for deciding to do the right thing last year and come back for your SR season to improve your stock in the NFL...

You deserve better than to blow your knee out against Georgia Southern.. Can believe we can't find 5 guys to protect you from the likes of Ga. Southern. That should have been no more than a scrimmage and yet they were in our backfield all day. We should be ashamed of ourselves for wanting you to come back for your SR year to this disaster of a team..

If I was Engram, I would ...... shut it down..

You do realize that people get injured in scrimmages right?

The hit he took wasn't even some jarring hit or horrible OL play. the ball was already gone.

Now to Shea. Blowing his RS this season would be the most selfish move Freeze has made in his tenure.

Here are the pros:

We gain momentum for we reach a bowl and Shea plays well....momentum for what? That isn't changing the hanging cloud that is the NCAA. No one is coming here because for it. Going to the Liberty Bowl isn't changing that.

Shea won't be here 5 years...how the hell does anyone feel they know this? What if he were to get injured his senior season in the same fashion Kelly just did. You gotta imagine it would be extremely difficult to rehab enough to be ready by combine time. Another year would be useful.

If Hugh want's to save this team, the move isn't burning Shea's redshirt, it's making much needed staff changes.

You can keep blaming Kelly and the offense ..... I'll keep blaming "the real problem"

Evan Ingram is possibly taking snaps in practice at QB. Evan Ingram. Playing a damn TE at QB or an OT at QB would be the most selfish thing he could do.

Throwing Evan, Markell, or Liggins at QB would be the most selfish move Freeze could make during his tenure, complete slap in the face to the guys that poured their heart into this program. Shea won't be here 5 years, no reason to not roll the dice and prepare for next season. Big thing not talked about much also is the extra practice him and the young defense would get by making a bowl game. 15 extra practices would be nice preparing for next season.

Sources on 247 are saying they are hearing Shea will take the field this weekend. Take it with a grain of salt

What's your motive Houston? You want folks fired or to improve? Maybe both? I'll tell you this, it's an unlucky season. They happen. Even when we had luck the ball sometimes bounces the other way. I'm not giving up on Hugh. Hell, he's brought us more hope than I thought could exist at Ole Miss. Once we get that nagging NCAA off our tails, we are going to fly again.

Landmass - You haven't seen me say one negative thing about Freeze... Find it and call me out on it...

I am totally 100% behind Freeze.

Wommack? Yea I think our defense is shite.
LB'er are shite.
Defense line has not lived up to the hype..Gross and Speaks have taken two steps back this year vs last... I love Haynes, Jones and Benito.

The Secondary is shite... Yea plenty of youth but has been very very bad this year.

Special teams --- shite

Wunderlich -- Love him...

This year is to far gone to bring Shea on IMO... For what?? The run him out there and get beat (badly) the last three games of the year and let him sit on that feeling all off-season.. I don't think that is what's best for him..

Even if we had Chad .... we would have loss 2 of the final 3 games.. This team has NO confidence and is a VERY bad team...

Vandy will beat us 2 TD's at their stadium and will run for 250 on us... This defense may be the worst defense I've seen us put on the field in the past 25 years... It will be interesting to look up some old stats..

Why are you totally 100% behind Freeze? He's the guy responsible for the crappy hires and lack of closes in recruiting that lead to this season's problems. Instead of rectifying his mistakes he's quoting the Old Testament.

Nobody is closing shite on recruits with the NCAA looming over our heads.

Hugh has lead us to places we have not been since the Johnny Vault era..

Hugh has the opportunity to fix the glaring problems on our team and if he feels he has what "we" need on our team to move forward from this year he will not make any moves ... and next year the heat will be on him... If he does not feel like we have what "we" need on our team he will make changes at the end of the season but to think he will fire coaches in the middle of the season is ridiculous.

Hugh make a lot of money and he will have to figure out our best move going forward. But our defense has got to get better moving forward especially with a young QB playing..

Our defense is our big problem but not our only problem... Our O-line has to play a lot better.. We need better RB play.. Our WR's are our strength but I'm telling you right now #1 and #14 are a studs and before they leaves Ole Miss they will be much better than any WR's on our current roster.. They are the closest thing to a Treadwell as anybody on our roster..
