Could be as simple as “hey man you got that money you owe me” “nah man we need to go to the bank so I can pull out the cash” “alright where you at I’m coming to get you” arrive at the bank “mr banker I’m being forced to withdraw money against my will please help”

Unless a gun was involved and this guy was held up at gunpoint I think it may be a little overblown. Powe is a good dude.

Always struck me as such. Sat next to him in a class at OM and he was incredibly nice.

I see him all the time at games. And didn't he actually narrate one of our hype videos?

Right, I don’t want to downplay it because we don’t know what happened yet, but just because the headlines say kidnapping doesn’t mean he grabbed someone off the street and held them in his basement for ransom.

A friend of mine owned a pawn shop and would give jewelry stores some big pieces he’d get to sell on a consignment basis. One guy sold a bunch of his stuff and didn’t pay him, so he went to his store to collect. He was asking for his money owed or merchandise to make good on his debt (guy had millions sitting in his showcases). Long story short, with no threatening of violence, no weapon, etc he was charged with kidnapping…while in the other guys store. I’ve seen the video recording a dozen times, the only thing even remotely threatening he said was “I’m not leaving until you pay me”. How that constituted as kidnapping and forcing the guy to stay in his own building, I’m not sure, but it held and he had lawyers trying to get him to plea out as if he had no fighting chance. It eventually got tossed when the other party was indicted for grand theft & tax evasion (did the same to many other people and the house of cards collapsed), but it still happened and was a legal nightmare for over a year and damn near bankrupted him.

You just invented hypothetical scenarios which you believe exculpate Powe and then stated the facts of the case, which you know nothing about, "may be a little overblown."

Please promise me you will never serve on a jury, under any circumstances.

Relax. I offered a hypothetical scenario that could explain the serious charges against Powe. You are claiming I made conclusions that I never stated. I used the words “could be and may be”. Those aren’t definitive terms.

And you don’t know shite either until evidence is presented at trial. Please promise me you will never defend a client in a criminal case. Your histrionic perspective before the facts are known is very concerning.

No, I stated you offered hypotheticals. In fact, "hypothetical" is the fourth word I used. You clearly have access to a thesaurus with your usage of histrionic. Maybe you could've found a synonym for hypothetical in there?

It's clear neither of us know the facts of the case. But that didn't stop you from speculating.

With all that in mind, I admit the personal attack on you was unnecessary and apologize for that.

Hey, we smoked a bad USC team w/ a brand new coach last night. My neighbor was on her way to the game, told her too bad it's not the women.
