I get what you are saying, but i think the fact is they are just not getting much accomplished regardless of the reasons why. There's a bunch of valid excuses why that unit is our team's weakest area, but it definitely, and very unfortunately, is what it is, and that ain't good.

Oh, and why is the defense not what it was last year, not overly close at the moment? We are missing Prewitt, Golson, Bryant and Shackleford. But then again at the moment, you have to add Connor and Gross, so I guess I have my answer there.

quote:

Everyone keeps blaming the OL. We are asking a crap load from a true freshman guard, a RT playing LT, a injured knee center who really shouldn't be playing, a guard with a torn labrum, a RS freshman RT, and a backup guard coming off two knee surgeries.

On defense we came out and for some reason decided to do a lot of run blitz. I hadn't seen that all year. Vs Vandy we were giving up the underneath routes to WR and plays to the TE. They mentioned it in interviews this week then came out and lost to the exact same game plan. 3rd and 7 and cbs continuing to play 10-12 yards off the line. Its just pitch and catch at that point. I'm not saying you gotta press but what's the point of dropping back so far?

You have to at least throw one to Laquon and why the heck do we not run a darn WR pick play from the 1. I mean the minute we do it, we score a touchdown. Heck, Randall Cobb scored 3 td's for GB last week running that play.

Hire Gus as OC.

Hire Cristobal as O-Line Coach/Co-OC.

Fauburn fans say him and Lashlee are crap in reality, heavily reliant on one type of player rather than adjusting

Bama fans say he can't coach at all, but he recruits like Freezus

ETA: OBVIOUSLY THESE PEOPLE AREN'T OPTIONS. What I was pointing out is we need to get and OC who can adjust to the playmakers he has, not just have his system. We also need an Oline COACH who can coach

Freeze may be the worst offensive play caller in the country

I know-that's going a little overboard, but he must have gone to the Sean Payton school of bad offensive play calling a year or two ago. He has tools that work in his toolbox, but refuses to use them. Instead, he pulls out a hammer and just bangs away like a deluded child, without any O line support.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Hugh's game planning:

Head Coach Hugh: "So what's this week's game plan?"

O-Co Hugh: "Well, we have the #1 WR in the country, and several other guys that can catch passes like hell on fire, but we're not going to design this week's offense with them in mind, and we're not going to try to completely exploit Florida's linebackers. We're going to pull a little trickeration: we're going to run the ball right up the center. We have a crappy O line, and an undersized running back, so they'll never see it coming. When that doesn't work, we'll go for the long ball or a screen pass."

Head Coach Hugh: "Awesome!"

O-Co Hugh: "Trust me-it worked for Vandy, and it'll work for Florida."

Head Coach Hugh: "What if we get into the game and it isn't working?"

O-Co Hugh: "We'll keep doing it, because they'd never expect that. Ever. I promise."

Head Coach Hugh: "I love you, O-Co Hugh."

O-Co Hugh: "I love you more, Head Coach Hugh."

Head Coach Hugh: "Call in Danny Boy and let's tell him."

I understand that a lot of the blame for last night's piss poor outing falls at the feet of the O-line, but the play calling last week versus Vandy and last night was absolutely atrocious.

Why can't we work in some under-center packages for the goal-line?

O-Co Hugh: "They'd see it coming every time. We just keep lining up in a shotgun and handing it off or sneaking it, and it'll work. I promise."

Hugh needs to realize that odds are built upon knowledge of past events. When something doesn't work over and over again, odds are that it won't work the next time. He's like the drunk roulette gambler who yells, "Next time!" and keeps betting on red when all that the wheel is hitting is black.
