Darius Rucker is fricking amazing. Hootie is the best SEC band ever. Period.

I always loved Hootie. I got to see them play at the Mud Island Amphitheater when I was in high school. It is still one of my favorite concerts to have ever attended.

Adventure Club - Gold (ft Yuna)

Krewella - Human

Krewella - Enjoy the Ride (acoustic version)

Krewella - Lights and Thunder (ft Gareth Emery)

Pendulum - Watercolour (Krewella ft Evan Duffy acoustic cover)

Adventure Club and Krewella are my 2 favorite EDM groups at the moment and Krewella just released a new album a few weeks ago that has been getting a lot of playtime. AC just dropped an EP 2 days ago as well.

Honorable Mentions:

Singularity - Horizon (ft Nilu)

Krewella - Party Monster nothing fancy here, just a damn good song to get pumped up to at the gym.

Corporate Slackrs - Smush same as the above Krewella song; trap is damn good pump music

Pretty Lights - Let's Get Busy Pretty Lights also just released a damn fine album that I've been playing a lot; If this were a top 5 live songs, they'd all be Pretty Lights. This guy blew me away live (literally and figuratively)

eta: I know EDM isn't the popular genre on this board, but with the exception of maybe "Lights and Thunder" all of my top 5 are actually pretty damn good and kind of tame on the EDM side.

Darius Rucker-Wagon Wheel

the original is over-played but a really good song. Then Hootie comes along and ruins it.

REM is from Athens too, and they're better than Hootie

This is true.

I'd also submit Neutral Milk Hotel as one of the best bands ever from SEC country.

I really don't understand the raging hatred for rucker's wagon wheel. Of course like every song that gets played x1000 it gets old, but it's not a "bad" song at all

Have you heard the original? Hootie's is no where close to Old Crow Medicine Show's.

From the people I've talked to, it depends on which version you heard first. If you heard OCMS's version first, you hate Rucker's version. And if you heard Rucker's first, you like it better than OCMS.

Its a Disney-fied shitty version of a cool song.

It would be like Mylie Cyrus doing Joan Jett. Its fricking karaoke, and it sucks.

Heard OCMS' version first. Rucker's blows it out of the water.

People that hate the new version only hate it because it's not the original which is fricking stupid.

I hate it because its not the original and because it fricking sucks.

Its like listening to a karaoke version of a real song.

Like that country bitch who re-made "Piece of my heart". It loses its soul and authenticity when its remade into super-produced, pop-country version. Rucker's version is like eating cardboard. It sucks.

I'm sorry, but that's a ridiculous "reason."

If it's good, it's good. Listening to music objectively broadens ones horizons and makes all music more enjoyable.

This isn't a zero-sum proposition either. There are several songs in many genres where remakes are just as good as the original. When it comes to Wagon Wheel, I like both.

You just hate it because of your bias against remakes
