No. I got a bit of a chuckle out of it.

This chick was either on the rag or needs to get laid. Get a sense of humor.

Tons of white knights in these areas, seeking jobs for jokes.

Does free speech only extend as far as the law?

Or am I allowed to talk about it philosophically?

I am? Well, frick me. I think I will.

Joke is in poor taste.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get someone fired over it (unless it was my establishment), but I don't disagree with the person thinking that was ok being dismissed. Poor judgment.

No.

Even though it's a tired arse saying and in poor taste, it's not intentionally malicious.

If it were some hate-mongering shite, I'd bitch and everyone else should too.

Most of the people screaming about their right to free speech are fricking terrible, hateful assholes.

The rest are pioneers against censorship and hipocracy.

It's definitely funny, but it is in really poor taste. If that person got fired.... well they probably should have known better. I'd think it a bit argumentative if someone unaffected by domestic violence made a big fuss, but if a woman at the bar used to get beat up by a boyfriend or husband, I don't really blame her for complaining.

I wouldn't, but I can see how someone might. It gave me a chuckle.

I love it when people think free speech means they can say anything in any setting and get away with it.

Truth. Say anything you want, that's legal. But people will always have reactions, and there may be non-legal consequences.

I realize this was a joke. But it wasn't a tasteful one, and would likely make someone who had been affected by domestic violence feel very uncomfortable. Not funny, IMO.

Really just laughed out loud.

OT - would I try to get someone fired over this? Nope.

Would I do what that woman did and post it on FB saying it was in poor taste...even though I chuckled? Yep.

This is the kind of joke you laugh about with your friends in a setting where it will never leave. Putting it on a sign in a business, even a bar, is dumb. Beyond dumb. If the GM was too dumb to know this then they were too dumb to be a GM in the first place.

I mean, I think dead baby jokes are hilarious...but there's a time and place.

I agree. I'm also glad that I finally got in a topic that wasn't German and went more than 1 page!

I would have to know more about this bar before id question the persons judgement. If its a dive type bar then I don't think anything is really wrong with it. I wouldn't cry to have someone fired over the sign.
