Would you have voted to indict these two?

ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -
A grand jury heard a controversial case Wednesday afternoon, involving a couple accused of murdering a Zachary man who was a convicted sex offender. The grand jury has indicted the couple and has officially charge them both with second degree murder.

The District Attorney’s office presented the case Wednesday against Jace Crehan, 21, and Brittany Monk, 17, to a grand jury.

The duo is accused of killing Robert Noce, Jr., 47, at his home located in the 3000 block of South Vernon Road. Noce’s body was found stuffed in a 55-gallon drum on July 4, 2015.

quote:

Court records show that Noce had accepted a plea deal for sex crimes against a juvenile less than two weeks before his death. He pleaded “no contest” (neither admitted to nor denied) to a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Although Noce was sentenced to 10 years in prison, he was given credit for time served and the remainder of his sentence was suspended by Judge Trudy White. He was placed on supervised probation for 5 years.

The probable cause report notes that the abuse occurred for several years and started when the child was 4-years-old.

quote:

Court records indicate that Monk may have been the victim of the sex crimes, but officials with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office say they cannot comment on that part of the investigation.

In an article published by The Advocate, Crehan allegedly confessed to the murder, stating that he killed Noce because Noce “had raped Monk for years and received a light sentence…”

Dad got off and i didn't hate the decision.

Generally speaking, I think that vigilante justice must be dealt with harshly. In this case, however, I think the justice system clearly failed and released a very dangerous person back into society. Sexual predators, specifically those who prey on the young, generally show no response to rehabilitation and therefore need to be culled from the herd, be that life imprisonment, life-long confinement in a mental institution, or capital punishment.

Long story short, if I had been on that grand jury it would have been difficult for me to indict them on murder charges.

There isn't a cruel enough punishment for people who mess with kids, imo.

Now watch, some bleeding heart retard will say that vigilante justice is wrong and child molesters should be institutionalized instead of being put to death because of their mental illness.

Just for Shafty.. Yes. There's no place for vigilante justice in a civilized society.

Doesn't matter though. I'll never sit on a grand jury, or any jury, anyway.

Same here.

I'd have gone with negligent homicide at most. Can't totally dispose of the rule of law. But the sentence would be more appropriate I think.

That one's a bit iffy. I see that he cut a plea deal, but I'm still just a bit leery of far in the past (unless I misread, she said she was 4 when it started and she's 17 now) abuse allegations that spawn out of failed relationships.

Now, caught in the act or with irrefutable proof of recent abuse? IDGAF what the victim or parents do to them.

To play devil's advocate, for their sake getting indicted now is actually probably the best thing for them. Right now, the case is in the public eye and it looks like they've got a lot of community sympathy so their chance of being acquitted is probably pretty decent. That won't be the case 5, 10, 15 years down the road. Go to trial now, get acquitted, and it is over forever. On the other hand, unless Louisiana law is different, even if this GJ no-billed the case it could be presented again in the future.

He started raping her when she was 4 years old? He sentenced that poor child to a lifetime of anguish.

Killing him was too kind. He should have gotten a life sentence to be served in a cell with the Booty Warrior.
