Gotta agree on Mandarich. I recall a Sports Illustrated story about how he was bred and raised to be a NFL QB by his overbearing parents (similar to the tennis sisters)

You're thinking of Todd Marinovich, who was atrocious too. Mandarich was supposed to be the best offensive line prospect of all time, but he was a roided out bust of a NFL player.

Ohio St and Penn St alone top any two conferences combined. Your turn midget.

Can't just do it from a fan perspective has to be from a fin point of view.

look at Jamarcus - contract, guaranteed, actual on field production - and so forth

Compare to others - mandrich and so forth - have to include a calc for tvm

But just a guess Jamarcus has to be it -

Explain how that is worse than J Russell? How much did Cleveland lose and what draft pick did they waste compared

Decent pick but I'll take Russell Erxleben all day. In 1979, the Saints drafted Erxleben in the 1st round with the 11th pick. Erxleben was a punter.

Obviously Jamarcus Russell. Duh. Anybody who says another player is just afraid of the LSU fans on this board getting mad at them.

Hmmm. An LSU fan who's trying to find an alternative to Russell by citing a #11 pick? Who remembers who the #11 pick was? I think people remember Mr. Irrelevant more than the #11 pick.

Fan loyalty has nothing to do with it buddy. I'm also a die hard Saints fan, and I'm showing the ignorance of an organization (albeit a long time ago) for drafting a freaking punter in the 1st round. Jamarcus is definitely one of the biggest busts ever, but that wasn't the question. The question asked for the worst pick, and given JR's college production, it wasn't a horrendous pick. Selecting a punter with the 11th overall pick is hard to beat.

I have nothing to offer, other than it would HAVE to be a #1 pick.

Jim tressel called the punt the most important play in football so I guess he'd draft a punter in the 1st round every year if he were in the nfl.

Trent Richardson
lol. He had nearly 1000 yards rushing and about 400 recieving for the team that drafted him his rookie year, behind a shitty offensive line and with no qb. Adrian Peterson wouldnt have done any better on the browns that year. Not even close to the worst draft pick ever

He could also placekick. He cried on the Suoerdome floor when he missed one once!

Then I would say Vaughn Dunbar and of course, JR

regardless of pick.....I say Johnny Manziel..of all the picks since 1967 modern era...he has to be the worst..not even a close second.

a frickin buck-eye should know the answer to this more than anyone ....

1982 - Round 1 - 4th Pick - Colts

until Manziel is sentenced to 10 years, seven months in prison for fleecing more than 50 people of millions of dollars in a sports-ticket scheme - he doesn't out-shine your beloved Art Schlichter. that doesn't even begin to cover his gambling problems in college that carried over to his rookie season and kept him from ever playing any meaningful games in the NFL.

and insult to injury - it was his interception in the Gator Bowl that eventually got Woody Hayes fired after choking Charlie Bauman.

A shitty offensive line wouldn't have both Alex Mack and Joe Thomas.
