People in Paris are just typical big city folks, in a hurry with no time for strangers. Out in the French equivalent of "flyover country", things are quite a bit different.

I spent some time in Champagne-Ardenne, from Sedan to Epernay to Verdun. Ran into lots of friendly French there eager to talk and help out a fellow who only knows intermediate French. Sedan and Verdun played crucial roles in WW I and II. Had some good conversations in bars there with Frenchmen who didn't pull any punches about what went wrong.

It goes without saying that I didn't have a bad meal. They know how to cook up some good food there. Don't knock France until you've seen more than Paris.

Wow...what a story. Nice to see the townspeople still celebrate, neat to see that. It's awesome that the widow got to meet them and get some closure.

And frick that politician.

Paris fricking blows. If the God you don't believe in, decided to give the Earth an enema, Paris would be point of insertion.

What about "fricking"? Surely the iPhone likes fricking, everyone likes fricking.
