Ah, the timeless "I know some guy with vague connections to the military who says sh*t's about to go down" rumor to freak people out.

Nothing to see here.

Well, it's not just a military guy I happen to know. I am a veteran and have spent time overseas with this fella. Couple posters in this thread have mentioned regular deployments, and rotations. I wouldn't have brought the thread up if it was that kind of business. Anyway, I guess it's expected to get a few dumbass responses in between the ones that can actually contribute.

Ok man.

You're right, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Sorry.

My unit is supposed to be going to Kuwait in March of 2015, but I've heard rumor that my section would be going somewhere in Africa - which makes me think Lybia.

I'm not excited about it because we're the most tactical version of ATC we have (TTCS). If we're going somewhere separate from the unit then it's gonna be somewhere with shitty conditions.

Right answer. Libya in particular is rapidly headed towards Somalia on the Med.

Hopefully, someone is actually getting assets in place to react in case Americans need help again.

Carriers don't respond with a MEU do they? I was once in the corps as well, but never spent any time on a boat.

When I was with the 26th MEU there was, so I assume they all have one.

Putin doesn't have a real military -- all of their hardware is outdated. Trust me, they have -zero- capacity to launch a global war. They have one air craft carrier.

The United States has 12.

The rest of the world combined has twelve.

Putin doesn't want conflict -- that's why he won't commit his troops. He knows that if we were to go head to head it'd be a fricking disaster for his side. America has launched two wars simultaneously across the entire world but America isn't stupid.

It's like North and South Korea -- the only thing stopping South Korea from rolling up the North like sushi is because of nuclear weapons.

If Russia didn't have Nuclear weapons we would wax them within months.

Of course, half of this board will gorge on Russian dick while simultaneously ignoring the fact that they can barely keep their Navy, economy and air force above water let alone keep their populace motivated to fight a superior force.

They're heading to the Mediteranean to monitor Syria and Ukraine. Troops are being deployed to Jordan to arm and train moderate factions of the Syrian resistance

Yeah we are, and we damn well should be. They still have a more than capable nuclear arsenal that they are pouring money into to update further. Pure speculation on my part, but don't be surprised to see that Cold War heat back up real soon.

Obviously I have no idea what unit you belong to, but Camp Lemonier could be a likely destination for you. It should be pretty built up by now, our SF types have been using it for many years in that region. I think it's been built up within the last few years though.
