Been going to HHI early June for the last ten years since the oldest kid was 3. My kids grew up there. Just like anywhere else you need to know what to do and what to avoid.

Tybee Island is great. I've been taking the family there for years now. It isn't as crowded, it isn't overtaken by cookie cutter housing developments and giant hotels like Destin and Panama City. I like the history and culture in that part of Georgia. Hilton Head is too commercial.

Destin has great beaches. It is getting overgrown though.

Good food, big beaches, nice weather year round. There's a little more to offer than SSI imo. Location also plays a factor.

This. Any of those communities along 30A are where it's at if you live along the gulf coast and want a beach place

I used to live in Bluffton and wonder the same thing. It caters to the older clientele and maybe families with younger children, but then there isn't a lot to do outside of golf and the beach. However, the puss is quite nice there...
