Probably better said than my sarcastic response. There is a layer of truth in what he had to say, but in general he missed the mark.
We'll probably be saying some of the same things thirty years from now about our children's generation.

I gotta agree with this to a point. Technology is great, obviously, in making pretty much everything these days quicker & easier, but it can be a double edged sword. There's something to be said for using a pencil & paper to figure out problems, write in a journal or write a letter, draw, etc. When we rely on computers to do most of the "thinking," a lot of creativity and the thought process to achieve it seem to be lost, and kids sitting all day with their heads stuck in video games can't be good for their creative development. To be creative, there has to be emotion. A lot of the teens I see are desensitized & emotionless. The only thing they get excited about is the due date for the next new game.

This. I have been mentally exhausted after some ncaa football games online. With the right competition it becomes almost a chess match at the line of scrimmage. And that's just one game.

At least the younger generation has discarded the lies that the mainstream media and politicians tell us every day. The baby boomers and older generations keep voting for same political types and believe everything they see on Fox News/CNN.

This. And there are way more channels and venues for creative work. If you're not seeing creativity in the theater or on tv, it's probably because the financial outlay is so great on capturing attention, producers and money backers won't take chances on pushing new talent or ideas. They'll play it conservatively and not push.
And really, if you want to get serious about it, there's not going to be a Mozart every generation. Radio, TV and film get passes because it's a young medium, but the reality is that over centuries people will adjust "This is the greatest artist" to fit their own present culture and not respect the past.

They didn't "make" it more complex. The advent of the information age has played a huge role in that. Any new game changing technology is going to have hiccups for the economy and society. They just happened to be in control when it happened.
I mean, our economic problems are a story as old as time. Too much debt (everywhere, not just gov.) and the fallout of unwinding that debt. There's no need to blame generations. It's not us vs them, even if the old people do piss me off talking down to us.

Here's the irony.
Yesterday it was revealed that, next to mortgage debt, educational debt is the second largest debt in the country. And it was also revealed that kids are dropping out of school at a higher rate than ever before in the history of this country.
Why?
Because they've learned that the government will pay them enough to sustain them through life ... no need to actually be creative, and work for it any longer.
They've learned that their parents will allow them to move back home and live in their old bedrooms.
They've learned they can have babies and not have to marry, or worry about how to pay for them ... because Uncle Sugar and their parents will take care of all of that.
It's simply easier to lay back, copy things, and enjoy life compared to say ... I dunno, being creative and carving their own niche in the history of the world.
Many of them believe they are actually doing something by being expert trolls on the Internet, or by being disrespectful to their elders or ... well, you asked.
....In the meantime, I'll get off your lawn, old timer.
