quote:

Basically, Republicans think America was at its best when segregation was the norm, LGBT rights were an oxymoron, there was no separation of church and state, and we had just won/finished our second world war in three decades.

Democrats, on the other hand, tend to favor recent years where improvements in social justice, human rights, and technology have been most pronounced

A great quote of politics that's stuck with me through the years.

quote:

Conservatives by definition have the position of conserving what we have. It is their job to conserve that which is good. Liberals on the other hand have more of an approach to liberate us from that which is bad.

Bad politics happens when Conservatives try conserve something that is not good and when liberals try to liberate is from something that is not bad.

Fairly telling of the results.

... and just like that, the government announced this morning that GDP in the first quarter of 2016 increased at an annualized rate of just 0.5%. This is the 3rd consecutive quarter to show a loss from the one before:

Q2 2015: 3.7%
Q3 2015: 2.0%
Q4 2015: 1.5%
Q1 2016: 0.5%

We're heading in the wrong direction....seven years after the Obama "stimulus" that never stimulated anything. The days of rapid economic growth that felt so normal from the 1960s up through around 2006 now seem like ancient history.
