Can't argue that Abita has the better Amber. I haven't been overly impressed with Covington yet but I haven't had a huge sample to really say my feelings. I do prefer their Strawberry beer to Abita's though. Same story with Parish, though Canebreak was/is fantastic.

It all taste the same... If I'm buying light beer I'm buying the cheapest, because to me there is NO diff in taste. Why waste money?

Hopeful Canebreak comes to NELA... I haven't seen it up here yet. I'm sure a few places have it on tap.

I had their machiato espresso stout at Pelican House a couple months ago. Best beer I've ever had.

I drink the amber every now and then, and I do like the Turbo Dog and Strawberry, but Abita is just okay, by and large.

Covington's Strawberry is better than Abita's.

Louisiana beer has a long way to go, but it's coming along.

I went back a couple weeks ago to try some more, but it's gone.

If you like coffee beer, it's incredible. It almost tasted like mixing a Guinness with a Yueng's Double Chocolate Stout.

Agreed.

ETA: that sounds like something I'd love.

I love trying new beers, especially if I'm in a different part of the country.

ETA: and I'm always on the lookout for a bourbon barrel stout.

It's not as rich as it sounds. Actually pretty smooth, considering what it's brewed with.
