In Tennessee, five years ago I think. Pretty brutal, and I don't think torture was even the goal.

Seven years ago, in Knoxville. I went to high school with Channon.

A very horrific crime, and unfortunately one the community had to relive in a series of retrials after it was found the presiding judge was a drug abuser.

Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were tortured and killed when I was still living in Knoxville.

Recently, all five of the perpetrators got new trials because the original Judge was disbarred because of alcoholism/drug addiction. I'll have to look it up, but I remember when this happened, it was beyond horrifying.

Oh wow, have the retrials all been had? I hope none involved got any breaks because of the judge being fricked up.

Yes, the retrials are over. One of the five was convicted in federal court so his sentence was not affected. He remains incarcerated. One of the offenders was sentenced to death and he was not retried. Two of the offenders were sentenced to life, retried, and resentenced to life. The last had been originally sentenced to 50+ years and got a lighter sentence of 30+.

The house where the crime occurred was completely destroyed a number of years ago in a purposeful razing. It's still hard to imagine how anyone could commit such horrible acts as what happened to Christian and Newsom. Dark, dark part of Knoxville's history and deeply sad.

They should've been put in 55 gallon drums of hydrochloric acid. Alive. Save on the cost of jailing them....

That was one of the most heinous cases in Tennessee I can remember. Little to no national press too.

Perps were black, victims were white.

I remember hearing of this story. Anyone have a good link that goes a little in depth about the murders?

Most descriptions of torture on this board were from the distant past.

Mine was from the 1940's but apparently no one thought it was very horrific. :(

Nazi torture is as bad as it gets.

However, we can thank them and their victims' sacrifice for modern medicine.

I don't know man, spending several months bound to a bed having yourself vivisected piece by piece seems worse than what most people can dream up. The other ways may be gnarly and painful, but they don't last for weeks on end generally.

And it was done by the Japanese to the Chinese, but most people don't really put much attention to the Japanese.

The worst I have heard of were both by the vikings. The first one is the blood eagle where they cut open your back, break your ribs, then pull your lungs out through this cavity, and then stuff the empty cavities with salt. Mind you, all of this is done while the victim is alive.

The second one is where they would pull out a section of your intestines, tie them around a post, and make you walk around that post until all of your intestines were out and you died

That shite was terrible. I remember my mom and sister being scared to leave the house after the sun went down for months, and we're on the completely other side of Knoxville out West.

Did they say where the ones who didn't get the death penalty are going to prison at? If one ends up in Wartburg he's as good as dead at some point over the next 5 years. The psycho reds gonna destroy

The Japanese in many ways were worse than the Nazis.
