Prior to opening their economy in the late 1970s, the Chinese never stooped to paying their labor actual wages. They told them where to live, provided basic food and housing. Just enough to keep them healthy and working. When they got injured,sick, or old, they cast them aside. It was labor plus population control.

By any standard, the US South's slavery system was a drastic improvement over what China practiced just 50 years ago. Southern slave owners had massive financial investments in their slaves. If one got injured, died, or ran away, it was a major loss.

Not so in China. The Government had incentive to work them to death, because as soon as one man fell, there were two more waiting to take his place. I have been doing business with China for 12 years. I have spent a lot of time over there. The worst that we have ever done to our people is pale in comparison to what they consider SOP.

And to state the obvious: Despite centuries of a brutal warlord/serf system, modern slavery/forced labor, political repression, no basic human rights, and very limited social and politial freedoms, the Chinese people seem to have bounced back pretty well. You know, taking over the world and all that.

For some reason, despite access to far more resources, the victims of oppression here in the US have not seemed to flourish quite as well. Wonder what they difference is?

I'm a moderate conservative. The statement doesn't make sense because if slavery never occurred the conservative black male wouldn't serve a purpose to any whites in America. The only role they serve now is being a voice of reason in a unstable community of left leaning. You see, if there were no slavery America wouldn't be in the social economic condition it is today. Therefore it wouldn't be a need for whites to have a minority voice to identify with.

I mean, I like country music and NASCAR, but also rap and basketball. I love Texas but have no accent ("don't know why" ). I dress both western (cowboy hats/boots) and urban/modern (flatbill hats etc.)

I'm a hybrid, don't really fit down the line of most stereotypes. Just have eclectic interests.
