Agreed. I have no problem talking up the state either. I think the first quote is appropriate in the regard that most people think there's not much else to here aside from barefoot pregnant women, bourbon, and horses.

That's because people are stupid and believe ignorant stereotypes they hear. Everyone should be take pride in their area.
Over the past 30 years people have developed a false sense of where they fit into this world. Most folks didn't grow up with silver spoons, but worked their way into the middle class over the past 40 years or so. We are who we are, and should take pride in it, not apologize.

It's no Shreveport. Got that going for it. Also has one of the highest household median incomes in the country, but is expensive to live.
