Dang Missy, how long ago did all that happen?

It's been a few months, now, since the divorce has been final, but we had been officially separated a long time before that - didn't live together, or back & forth, for over 2 years before the divorce. I had actually left & filed about 5 yrs. ago, but withdrew it & reconciled a short time later "for the children." We had just gotten separated again when I found out about his long term affair, (many years, off & on) with my child present, so I re-filed, & stuck to it that time. ...

So actually, I just say we've been divorced for 5 years since we were living separately for most of that time, & the literal judgment is just kind of a technicality. Sounds bad, but it's the truth. He had been living with his gf on & off during that time which I didn't know bc he always kept his own residence. He'd been seeing her long before any of the separations, for years, which I didn't find out about until the last time I filed. He had known her for years since his sister was bff with her from high school. Hell, I knew her through his sister - met her right after I got married bc she & I were in my sil's wedding 2 months after mine. I even questioned my ex about his interest in her divorce years ago; I thought it was too much for just casual friends. We even knew her ex-husband - went to sil's parties & things with them. My ex's sister helped him with the affair - setting up & covering up things, & logistics. ... Just trashy as all hell. Honestly, I wouldn't care except that he has hurt my child deeply. For that, I will never, as long as I live, forgive him.

Good for you ... Cheating is bad enough, but ppl who do it while the kids are still living at home are reprehensible.

Thanks, Sarge, but I'm not looking to get married again any time soon. I'm enjoying being "officially" single, even though I really have been for a long time. I've got a younger teen still at home who I'm concentrating on raising. If the the other happens, that's great, but I'm staying single for the foreseeable future, at least until my youngest graduates. Being Mom is the priority.

Thanks, Tbird, But it's really ok. Except for my child being involved, it's actually great, and something that needed to happen & that I wanted to happen for a very long time. There were many things besides his cheating that were actually worse. And the cheating really isn't all that surprising considering his first marriage wasn't exactly a monogamous one, on either side, from what I understand. ... He's just messed up, altogether.

Yes, drama free is the way to be, most definitely. Considering I am, & he is not, we were not compatible, to say the least. ... And I certainly don't want my child subjected to it. When people say "stay together for the good of the children," that's absolutely not the case in my circumstances - it's quite the opposite for mine.

That's horrible advice for any situation. Kids are smart and intuitive and know when mom and dad hate each other.
