I hope you never have to if Jonesboro would be your barometer for the state.

Lived in LR for 7 years in the 90's. Loved it, regret moving. I like the whole state.

Looking forward to making it out to Fayetteville and hitting up NWA in the future. A good friend and colleague of mind is from Arkansas and a die hard Razorback fan. So naturally we speak about the similarities in scenery between there and East TN. Looking forward to the game next year

Some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, as well as some of the most terrible scenery in the country.

The northern and eastern Arkansas accent is probably the least pleasing southern accent there is. More of a harsh and trashy accent compared to the drawn out and dumb sounding MS and Alabama counterparts.

Hot Springs is a good time and cool hideaway. Lots of interesting history there.

I-40 from memphis to little rock has been under constant construction for 50 years straight.

The border with Missouri from northwest AR to the Jonesboro area might be some of the most backwoods and scary places in the country. However the NWA area has gotten really nice. The rest of the state besides those areas is Mississippi.

If you could clear it of its current residents and preserve it as an unpopulated wilderness area for outdoor recreation and agriculture, the place would be great.

Meh. There are plenty of good folks in Arkansas. So many of the people I worked with and befriended were just as smart, just as capable, just as cool as people from anywhere else. Arkansans tend to be defensive about the place because of Lil' Abner, Central High and so forth. I guess they do have an image problem, but the truth is the state and its people are just fine. I'd consider moving back there when I retire.

Most of my relatives live there. Not a bad place, has some of the more scenic, less crowded areas in the South

Used to love the Shady Lake area, and Banchard Springs Caverns.

Ha.

Harrison has some outspoken racists.

The area you described is sparsely populated. It also has several clear lakes and rivers, lots of pretty country and a few popular retirement destinations. It isn't as poor or backward as the MS delta, for example.

The first thing I think of when I hear the word Arkansas is "meth." Seriously, that's it.
