Politicians and cops are the pushers who control the market with monopolistic power enforced with guns and cages. The State pushers are raking in vast fortunes while they enjoy the best cannabis. If you want the best shite, get in with the power structure.

Or just go to a state where it's legal. I have a couple strains right now that are >25% THC. I have concentrates that range from 40-80% (the stuff that's only 40% also has 40% CBD, another cannabinod that has high medicinal value and is much more relaxing.)

on't want someone to be high at work.

It's both. Any job the recieves any kind of federal funding requires drug testing. I currently have my first job that doesn't test, but they don't chase Federal projects, just private ones. People that are dumb enough to go work high, were doing it whether it's legal or not.

quote:

It's only illegal if you get caught

For me, it's only illegal if I smoke and drive. And yes, they have developed and are continuing to develop tests for Cannabis to determine impairment, instead of just recent use (within the last month+)

quote:

you have been duped by propaganda. my wife has smoked pot daily for years and she NEVER wants to have sex. last year I made her get a checkup just to make sure she still even had a vagina. she also holds multiple degrees and rarely misses work. she pretty much single handedly refutes reefer madness.

My Dad has ran a $50+ million, 200-300 person engineering firm, while not being national, is the top company in one of the largest construction markets in America. He's smoked for 45+ years. There's some incredibly successful people that smoke regularly.

quote:

i guess you never had a child who started on pot then progressed to coke and meth. its a gateway drug. pure and simple. my son started on pot. he gradually moved to coke, then meth. you can rant and rave all you want about the safety of pot but i don't buy that argument. at all.

I hate to hear that about your son. My sister struggled with coke and pill addiction for years, which caused a lot of family problems.

But I have to ask, did he try alcohol? Cigarettes? Usually kids try those before pot.

I also wonder how many kids have moved on to other, harder drugs, after DARE told them that Marijuana was very dangerous, then the kids realized they were being lied to, and questioned every bit of drug info they were told. By lying to our youth, it makes them skeptical when you give them honest information.

That being said, I went to Colorado last year, Oregon this year. While CO has all the edibles and concentrates available for rec., Oregon has no mother fricking sales tax, and it was about half the price as I found in CO. Could be that CO prices have gone down since then, but I found OR weed much better and cheaper

In the 1.5 years I've been in Colorado , prices have dropped tremendously. A lot had to do with a law, that after 6 months of legalizatiion, dispensaries could begin to sell product from a third party grower. That dropped prices. Comptition helped too. But there are still places in CO, where a 1/4 will cost $120-$130, others $40-60. Quality can vary greatly. The best I bought was a $100 ounce. I've also seen $300 ounces that were mediocre. But there's a reason I went medical. I smoke enough, it's worth the price break.

You can also use coupons in Colorado. In the back of independant papers, instead of hooker and stripper ads, there's dispensary ads. You'll always find a coupon for a $20 1/8th or $100-$120 ounce. Lots of edible coupons too, but I really am not a fan of edibles. They make me tired. So I only eat (a very strong one) when I have to fly.

I like it. It is a responsible substance. My Mom and Dad still use it responsibly on the weekends and have zero worries.

Now getting caught with it and going to jail (and paying attorneys and other fee after fee) is another issue. Why?

This stuff should be legal down here.

Didn't read all 80 replies to this thread, but here's an example of literally -as in literally- every conversation I've had in the deep south in the last three years:

Me: "Yeah I live in Colorado"
Any and everyone I'm talking to: "Ohhhhhhh, Coloraaaaado, eh? :jump2::jump1:"

Soon enough there will be enough empirical evidence from Colorado to dispell your concerns and prove them to be based on ignorant rhetoric

so what you are saying is someday we will know more stuff and somehow you already know about it?

you're right, pots for everyone

edit: but in all seriousness, it will be interesting to see Colorado in 10 years and see what the true impact of legalization was.

The conversation on legalization needs to be looked at objectively ie just because someone smoked weed before they banged H does not make it a "gateway" and, for arguments sake, even if were a "gateway" that is not sufficient enough reason to outlaw it. Personal responsibility and accountability count for something. The same argument about "gateway drug" could be made for alcohol

It amazes me that alot of you people believe that legalizing a mind altering drug would be good. I read a report last week that the homeless rate has increased in Colorado since the legalization of weed. Somehow I think it's connected but that's just me. You guys keep smoking doesn't bother me. Meanwhile I will take your jobs make alot of money, raise a family responsible and enjoy life.

PEACE...

It can't be worse than all the already legal mind altering drugs legally prescribed by medical doctors.

Nice stereotype. Every adult I know that smokes weed is responsible and professionally successful. One is a very successful lawyer.

I can't speak for everyone, but my parents kick arse at work.

They haven't exactly made millions but they are innovative and pretty bright individuals.

Our family may not have it all, but we are at least happy and content.

They smoke when they want to and I do also. I am ok with that.

Maybe it is more of an "individual" issue. It has never made me unsuccessful in any capacity.

It's not as bad as everyone wants it to be.

In some states you have to go to jail just for having it on you. In other States it is merely "just legal here"..."hope you have a nice evening."

There is a difference in having to go to jail...or not at the end of the night.

Just make Weed legal. Responsible people can handle it.

While its illegal on the federal level, states will continue to balk at outright legislation. It's still on the federal register of narcotic drugs. The current DOJ memorandum outlining the federal stance will only be a suggestion of enforcement until a new AG takes office. A republican administration will probably rescind the memorandum.

LINK

The Feds can choose to prosecute at their discretion irregardless of state laws to the contrary. Weed business cannot bank due to money laundering law, and woe to them if they get caught funneling money somehow. I can guaran fricking tee that Treasury doesn't give a frick about state laws.

You want it to change for good? That's your challenge. Otherwise your just living a fantasy. You'd better read between the lines there. They've given up nothing.

Boulder, though I'm up in Aspen several times a year. I've definitely considered living up there for a winter as well. Walking up to the downtown Gondola for Aspen Mountain is the dream.

Alcohol is already legal... I don't smoke pot, but I do not think that the govt. should tell me I cant.

I read that this was primarily due to homeless migrating due legalization (not sure if that makes it any better)

not sure if there has been a direct link between smoking pot and not being able to perform a white collar job
