I actually am a weanie and cannot do the horror genre.
The closest I can do are scifi horrors like sunshine, alien, Prometheus, Predator, Pitch Black, Riddick, etc.

In no particular order:
The thing (saw it as a kid before the effects became old; terrified and fascinated me)
Oculus
You're next
Cabin in the woods
Silent hill
Carrie (newest one)
House of wax
Sinister (best use of sound for terror)

Loved Sinister. Cabin in the Woods was great because it took a horror trope( teens get wasted in a cabin) and turned it on its head.
Zombieland, though not so scary, was a great movie.

Jeepers Creepers and the original version of The Fog are also pretty creepy films.

On a related topic, what did everyone think of The Mist?

I dont watch horror movies. EVER. Life is scary enough without having to go to the movies to pay to get the shite scared out of you. frick that.
Besides I lived through Doug Barfield and the shite Show that was AU football 2012. No more for me.

The Descent. If you haven't seen this watch it asap
I don' get the love affair with this as a horror flick. The only part of the movie that was remotely creepy was the girl getting stuck in the rocks. The OCD in me made that scary. As for the creatures.....It just doesn't do it for me.
The strangers is a much better horror film. IMO

Let the Right One In is that for me.
I wouldn't classify this as horror. Nothing really scary about the film. That being said, it's a solid movie.

Not my favorite–by far–but my biggest one is:
1969–1974: The Nixon Years

Pretty good adaptation. Just wished Darabont wouldn't have changed the ending.

Watched Halloween and Halloween 2 last 2 nights
even with subpar acting and terrible effects, they still have some pretty terrifying moments
