I agree with this. Louisville has a lot of different scenes but you'll enjoy this for sure. Grab a cup of Heine Bros Coffee too while you're up there.

I second the Heine Bros as well. It's my standard coffee stop.

If you're a craft beer type of guy I'd recommend checking out the Holy Grale. It's a gastropub that was converted from an old 1900s Unitarian church. It still has a lot of the original stained glass and woodwork. It's also down in the Highlands.

And then you have the Irish corner in the same general area with Flanagan's Ale House (huge beer list and great burgers), Molly Malone's (lots of nice outdoors/people watching seating and some good Irish standards), and O'Shea's (decent brews and live music).

For Knoxville, I would grab dinner and drinks at Downtown Grill and Brewery. Shoot for the front patio if you can get a table. It's located on Gay St. (Picture below) -- Their in house brews are really good. Check out their seasonal brew called the Alt or grab a White Mule. You can't go wrong with either.

If you guys are still looking for something to get into after dinner, head about a block or two over and check out Market Square(Picture below). You'll find bars(Preservation Pub and Scruffy City -- Both have great roof top/balcony views over looking Market Square), dining, live music, etc.

If you've got any more specific questions feel free to ask.

Not Bri, but it's called the Oliver if you're thinking of Knoxville.

Their speak easy is awesome.

That's it. He might want to consider staying there depending on his price range or visiting the speak easy. The hotel is boutique so it's expensive. It would be a good base to explore Market Sq. and Downtown from.

You are correct as usual, Prof.

It's basically in Market Square. It's directly behind Tupelo Honey, so that works perfect for going to Market Square, The Old City, or Gay St.

MasterAg, If for what ever reason you want to be surrounded by all of the college students, check out Cumberland Avenue aka The Strip. Although, I'm not sure when spring break is, so it may or may not be dead depending on if school is out or not. There's a hilton hotel located on the same street if that's more your cup of tea. Doubtful, but thought I'd throw that out there never the less.

Yeah... Looks like I won't be staying at the Oliver. Kinda expensive. Restaurant looks good though. Thanks for all the info Prof, TRT!

Since we dont play yall till forever. I kinda want to get a feel of what the students do on the weekends. Plus, I'm most likely gonna be by myself, and not too old that I can't shave my face and be mistaken for a grad student.

I appreciate the time you put into posting photos and the rec's.

Couple of good craft beer breweries in Lexington if you're making good time and want to explore.

No problem

Also, I forgot to mention that Cumberland Ave.(Main street where the students are at) will be under construction for the next 2 years as they are going in and redesigning it(Been needed for the last 3 decades). So I'm not sure the experience will quite be there for you on your trip, but I hope so. Knoxville has done a good job of revitalizing all the different areas of downtown/campus over the past 5-10 years. The only bad thing that comes with that Is the construction.

Also, this would be my at the top of my recommendations. If you get a chance, check out a spot called Bearden Beer Market about 5 minutes out from campus. Just past sorority row. Personally, it's my favorite spot in Knoxville. It's a locals/Knoxville spot so most out of towners aren't aware of it. It's a huge beer garden with a ton of open space. Plenty of tables, corn hole, bball goal etc. It has a unique California vibe going on with it IMO that no other place in Knoxville has. Great crowd of people. Huge selection of craft beer on top and in bottles. Extremely dog friendly

It's a gem and there's almost always some away fans who manage to find it and show up on game day and have a great time.

Here's A few pictures:
