Birmingham is getting better, I hear that new Iron City music venue is pretty cool.
City Stages lost soooo much money, and it was poorly run. But I am very supportive of a downtown music event in Bham with property management. (just give me some capital and I will quit my job to run it in a heartbeat)
The music scene was half the reason I moved to New Orleans, probably more than half. Plus pretty consistent flights to Denver and Atlanta for around $200 if you get on theme early, I've even flown to Atlanta for $100 round trip before.

well it is mardi gras so crazy things happen but as of now I'm not planning on heading down. Now if i find a friend willing to do all the driving id tag along

I know how it goes. I've got a condo on the parade route to stay at for free. It's about as hassle free as Mardi Gras gets.
