I find it sad that in a lot of areas stores like Walmart basically welcome a lower standard of behavior among it's workers and clientele. You can accommodate folks shopping there to get the best price on products while exercising some decorum.

You're really overstating your case and this post is a perfect example.

What areas are you talking about? You act like an expert on the employees and customers of Wal*Mart, but you also claim to never shop there. So which is it?

Eh, I've worked at a Kroger in the same town as a Walmart and Target and H-E-B. There were great coworkers of mine and shitty, but no more or less than any other stores.

Sorry you've had some shitty walmart experiences, but implying that an inferior type of person works there is a bit much.

It's the same here as I said in my post. But there's a distinctly different type of person that ends up working at Kroger, Costco

Columbia doesn't have a Costco, and the only type of people who worked at Kroger were kids from my high school, and they had a VERY high turnover rate.

I never claimed that I've never shopped there. I have in the past in Louisville (we have 4 or 5), on vacation in other states when there isn't another option, etc.

Apparently Kroger managers don't like poor people either:

quote:

Kroger has apologized to a customer who said she was brought to tears after a central Georgia store manager made disparaging remarks because of her reliance on food stamps.

“‘Excuse me for working for a living and not relying on food stamps like you,’ “ Cindy Nerger told ABC News the Warner Robbins manager said to her recently after a dispute over grocery items not covered by food stamps.

Who said I didn't like poor people? Like I said earlier, I don't equate trashy to poor.

But since you're having such trouble making a distinction have a nice day.

Not sure comparing Costco to Walmart is even fair. One is a wholesale club. Sam's would be a better comparison.

I do most of my shopping at Costco. Unfortunately I can't buy everything I need there and their pricing on some items is outrageous for a wholesale club. Costco just recently started taking food stamps, their clientele will change over time as well.

So the lady tried to buy something not WIC or food stamp approved and then got pissy when called out for it?

I'm just glad that there are so many options and that I never have to step a single foot into a Walmart.

Just goes to show you how far overpriced the Costco membership is from what it could be

Yet I still pay it gladly.

They really push the Executive Gold Star. Hard sell on that, because most of their profits come from membership fees. LINK

With 56 million members, that's quite a chunk.
