i read this and keep thinking i'm being tricked and the vagabond interloper is the protagonist. but i'm sure it's just straightforward.

The book is excellent. I would highly recommend reading it, and also never seeing the movie. Ever.
The book is the most violent and at times nightmarish tale about Rabbits that you will ever read. It has deep political allegory as well as thought provoking life situations. It was originally put forth as a children's book, but its really an adult novel. You could say it was the Lord of The Rings for rabbits, based off writing style, I would suppose.
