Honestly I don't remember that thread. Have you performed a "search" for the word "time travel"?

ETA: Found It

To answer Rooster's original question, I would do any of that: this is what I would do and who I would take:

MizzouKills - a 100 Ton Gold Nugget
SCRooster - AR 15 with extended mag
(Any Vandy Ranter) - Computer with HUGE hardrive with a full registry of all patents and designs from midnight 22 June 1787-present along with diagrams and plans (including oil production/refinement.)
Peter Buck - Most Recent Sports Almanac
Reedus - Heavy duty solar powered charger/battery.
Myself - Computer with complete anaylsis of all the world's known energy/mineral/fuel deposits.

I don't think I need to write how this goes down, you can probably see it already.

1.) We're back in time then SCRooster takes his rifle to Buck Reedus and Kills, we sell them to some indians in exchange for protection/land to setup operations.

2.) SCRooster, who is old as hell now, but who I think was a young lad during this time period, uses his knowledge of the time to start building the network.

3.) We chip off some gold from the nugget to buy supplies/laborers to make life more comfortable.

4.) We start "inventing" the major items before other patents are obtained. I place the Sports Almanac in a vault for my heirs. I make arrangements with Rawle & Henderson LLP in the coming years to ensure access to that vault for heirs at the right time.

5.) The Vandy guy has served his purpose in the startup, he has an unfortunate accident.

6.) SCRooster and I make a long term plan to use our immense wealth and political connections to make sure clemson is never founded (in 1889.)

7.) The year is 1800, SCRooster is really old as frick now, he passes and the world is mine.

8.) 1820, I become the worlds 1st trillionaire.

9.) In 1821, I find a way for SC to annex the state of NC, forming Carolina, we promptly and successfully secede from the Union, but not in a joint Confederation with the other states (we don't want Missouri to lose it for us again.)

10.) I've drastically altered the time line enough, so I adapt to the changes I've made, however, I rapidly speed up the innovation and development of scientific inventions so that we have hover boards and flying cars by 1928, when I pass away at a very old age, (but not as old as SCRooster.) Also, I increased the presence/demand of capitalism worldwide and Karl Marx was just never born in 1818. I share information with the Czar to keep those commie bolsheviks in check and from ever happening.

If I have to go back to a specific date, it doesnt say I have to go back to a specific place. Im going to Tahiti and living amongst the native women who think pale white skin is sexy as frick.

Will populate the rest of Polynesia with mixed kids. And if Jeffereson and Franklin and Adams are there with me, they'll be laying wood to the natives as well.

Not really. There is nothing racist about going back in time and returning people to the native land where they were kidnapped from.

I can't take your comment seriously because if you don't agree with me you are essentially saying, "Even though we kidnapped and enslaved Africans, you are a racist if you believe that they should be sent back home."

That makes zero sense.

I would clarify the Interstate Commerce clause and make executive actions illegal without the consent of Congress. I would also make non enforcement of laws by the executive branch an impeachable offense.

Ohhhhhhh yes!

Come to think of it, impeachment should be made mandatory and automatic in certain cases such as the one you mentioned, among others.

I would strongly encourage them to make clear the binding finality of joining the Union.

None of this secession bullshite.

You mean you would have them adopt a policy they did adhere to. Much more than a mere "clarification."

The "binding finality" you speak of was created by the war, not clarified.

Move 10th amendment to #1.

Move #1 to #2, #2 to #3, and #3 back to #10.

I also like your rewording of 2nd amendment to use the phrase "well armed citizenry".

Interstate commerce clause as written:

quote:

Article I, Section 8, Clause 3:[3]
[The Congress shall have Power] To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes

Should be

quote:

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and with the Indian Tribes, but only among the States that explicitly consent to the regulation, being fully free to recant the consent at any time thereafter giving such consent.

Good topic. I'll think of more later.
