This is really random but this is the off topic board so I suppose it belongs here

What does California do with all of the crazy tax money they charge people for things? If they truly want everyone to have electric cars and they charge people three or so dollars a gallon extra as an energy tax why have they not beefed up there Electric grid to where hot or cold days don't strain it to the point of rolling blackouts? It seems like if you're punishing gas consumers to go more electric they would at least have the infrastructure in place to support such a thing. If everyone of the 30 million residents of California got an electric car and were running a 240 volt 60 amp charger every night it wouldn't hold up.

Well there's 39 million people in California so I guessed 30 million drivers which very well could be wrong but just a shot in the dark. My point stands though. However many it is I still think would struggle to make it through the night.

The point is that you don't have to guess. You can find the number of cars driven per day. Look up the KVA of a charger. 60 amps sounds high. Look at the charge curve for car batteries to calculate the charge times. Some guessing there is necessary. Then compare your sum total to the grid capacity in CA.
And then, take your work to the politics board where more will join you in griping about governments.
