Yeah, I agree. I've had CBRN defense training in our Emergency Management program. You'd think that Rick, a cop, and the surviving military characters would have an inkling about what was going on. After all, most localities and all military personnel have required training in CBRN defense.

I suppose a disease that quickly strikes down 98% of the population would upset even the best laid plans, though. Lifeboat economics is definitely at play in the show. We had a saying in my EM program: YOYO, you're on your on. I think this describes perfectly the Zombiepocalypse world of WD.

Well I mean, the "virus"...the parameters for it are:

Came out of no where.
Undetectable.
Infected every human.
Can be spread only through the mouth.
Seems to specifically kill people who would have the best knowledge of defending themselves against it.

Like I said, may as well call it magic and that's where I get sick and tired of the zombie genre. I'd write a book if I had the time, but I'd actually be intellectually honest and make sure everything gelled scientifically.

And that might make a boring book.

You should write it. Can you imagine the real terror a mutated rabies virus would wield upon the world? There are excellent scary virus books on the market. Just a few of my favorites:

The Hot Zone
Ebola:Through the Eyes of the People
The Cobra Event
Omega
Outbreak
Contagion

From a military point of view we're not so much worried about a mutated virus than one that's manufactured. Maybe I'll think about it later, because I've read a few of those books and have firsthand experience.

Personally, a delayed virus is what scares me the most, but I have a feeling that people would discover it before it took full hold.

I also think that the best representation in media is from The Last of Us, at least the most believable and consistent.

I disagree. I got out of EM because of the ignorance and corruption of government funds that abounds in emergency preparedness programs. A manufactured respiratory virus with an incubation period of about a week would devastate the world.

After 9/11 and the anthrax scare that closely followed, there was a rush to arm our country with the knowledge and tools to defend against any terrorist threat. 10+ years later the degeneration that afflicts all government programs has set in. Now the focus of those who manage the programs is to simply provide the minimum necessary to keep the money flowing and to skim off as much as possible for other uses.

The Daryl & Beth flirtation continued. They even held hands! I don't like the thought of them doing the nasty. The age difference is too much. Yuck. I hope they're just friends.

Beth was captured by someone. She may no longer be a virgin if we see her again.

Daryl has taken up with a gang of rednecks. Involuntarily, it would seem. How did so many scurrilous people avoid getting the virus? Makes Georgia look bad.

Sasha and Bob had an experimental kiss. Didn't work for either of them. Maggie, Bob and Sasha got back together. Headed for Terminus.

Glenn saw Maggie's sign and headed to Terminus, too.

A lot of zombies got poked, shot and stabbed in the head.

Seems the show is just trying to make it to next season. Only three episodes left.

I thought there wasn't going to be a next season?

ETA: I guess season 5 will be the final one?

The Bob flashback at the start threw me. I was like WTF is this?

All in all a decent episode. This season seems to be petering out to a dud, though.

I'm really sick of Maggie & Glen. DWI.

Yeah, me too. I was even checking to see if an older episode was being run. Then I went, "Oh."

Did you notice Daryl and Glenn were asking Bob the qualifying questions for membership to the group? I didn't get anything out of the flashback. I wonder if it was just filler? The LOST series did that a lot.

Same here. It's getting old. This season is starting to get pretty boring in my opinion. Not much going on.

Me too. Kill off Maggie and get rid of that awful accent ruining every clip that she's in.

I think it was more of "remember that black guy who is an alcoholic? Ok, his name is Bob. Bob Soukey. We're going to deal with him a lot in this episode. Ready, go."

Just got around to actually watching TWD.

Stand by my original statement. Maggie needs to be killed off. Also, I'd like more focus on Michonne and I'd take for Daryl to escape the Redneck gang.

I like the Maggie storyline and I really like Maggie the person. She's nice to look at.

If anyone needed to be killed off it's Carol. I can't stand her and was glad to be rid of her. He reappearance made me really unhappy.

It set up Bob's mentality of not wanting to leave Maggie alone. I also think the qualifying questions Glenn and Daryl asked Bob was a really good setup for Daryl's encounter at the end of the episode and how that went versus their first encounter with Bob.

She makes me want to gouge my eardrums. I can't stand that shite.

Why would anyone hate Carol? She's a former battered wife that taught kids how to defend themselves. She's far more likeable than most females.

She just bothered me during the whole time they were looking for her daughter. I've never recovered from that enough to appreciate her.

You can't really hate her for that. She was far more helpful than many of the female characters. Especially fricking Lori.
