Tequila is terrible unless in a margarita. Vodka is good in nothing.

I am sorry but most people who say this concept of tequila is basic call brands or patron silver. Good tequilas can be equal or superior to most scotches and whiskeys. Step out and try some good anejos on the rocks, not in a shot glass with salt and a lime

Never had tequila, but wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Can you drink it neat and, if so, what brand would you recommend?

yea and only drink top shelf tequila. Try Patron Silver or Don Julio.

I love tequila. But the best stuff, IMHO gran corralejo, you can only find in Mexico.

From my experience all liquors will effect you worse if that's not the typical one you drink. If you get used to whiskey, vodka, etc... And don't drink tequila much it will effect you much more. And vice versus with any liquor.
