Wow, what a truly ignorant comment. The epitome of being judgmental.

If you want to examine a TV preacher, look at Billy Graham. Never lost sight of his God and the humility that comes from being His servant.

This. Billy Graham was an old fashioned Christian. One who saw his role as a pastor as non-political. He certainly advised and comforted some great politicians but that's because he was invited to do so.

He offered the messages he felt he was called on to give people and he was well received. He didn't try to take over government and force non-Christians to live by Christian values.

Yea there is an interesting white house tape between him and Nixon discussing the Jewish/zionist control of American media.

Nope they're real, John Oliver did a special on them not long ago.

That piece alone is better than anything Jon Stewart did during his time at the Daily Show (save for maybe his 9/11 speech).

Yea the "seed money" episode, I remember that it was a great ep. Interesting enough the GOP used the same tactic mailing out dollar bills to its supporters back in September. I should really type up that letter, its a fantastic piece of propaganda. I thought it was so pathetic that it was funny, and kept it to use later. Its 4 pages long so i would have to have some interest if i was going to take the time to type it up.

Meanwhile the guys doing real work are flying in Cessna 208's and Piper Navajos landing on unimproved strips in remote regions of the world.

They have one of the richest black pastors down the road and his church is HUGE... owns a couple of private jets, some very nice cars, etc....

Preach's on Sunday about giving to God, etc. The people that attend his congregation defend him to the fullest even though most are poor and give everything to him.

They don't.

I agree with the poster earlier that said that once it becomes about me and not Jesus, you're messing up. I'm not one of those who believes a pastor should live in a mud hut, but living in a mansion while you get tithe from the poor is wrong to me.

That's the main issue I have with the Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar crowd. They preach what people want to hear and promise them riches and no problems. It's just not reality nor Christianity.

John Oliver is the best thing on TV, but to compare him to Stewart isn't fully fair because Stewart had to produce 4 nights a week vs 1 night a week and Oliver's is more based on different topics rather than current events of that day/week... even though the first segment is dedicated to that

BUT back to topic, yeah these televangelists are some of the most vile creatures on this planet. It really makes me ashamed to hold the title "Christian" when I share it with those guys
