Outback. 2,700 lbs with the 2.5 four, 3,000 with the 3.6 six.

AWD, handles easily, decent capacity and mpg.

Only as long as she can drive it. There's nothing worse then some chick driving some big arse vehicle she can't drive.

We had one from 2002 til last year. Great car. Wife loved it. No idea on the new models as we went back to a mini-van due to grandchildren.

I used to pull a 17' jb with a fuggin old RAV-4 with a 2 liter 4 banger. Wasn't fun but wasn't too bad. You could just go old school and put a hitch on a buick station wagon and get the job done with that.

Hitches on wagons make me laugh...not sure why...I guess I just figure a Clark Griswold type character is behind the wheel

I thought about buying a Land Rover. Think I'll just wait until I finish school and buy an Autobiography

Mine was always around $150? I'm actually trying to find another LR4. Wish I'd never gotten rid of the last one.

Dang, my BMW is like $200 - I assumed LR was worse. I did see one study where Rover is the most expensive car you can drive per mile all costs included or something like that. I think they look good, would just never buy one - seems like a chick or guido SUV.

What is it with toyota and these headlight/taillight housings that bulge well beyond the body?

This plagues the highlander and the 4-runner. Add this and the "gaping maw/angry face" school of "design" puts me off of toyota completely.

Don't buy ugly arse vehicles. Too many good styles from Honda, Ford, VW, Kia, etc to buy these monstrosities. Besides: Toyota is the new Buick.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STAHP.

I have a 4runner now and it's awesome, but I do think the new ones are ugly. Would not buy for look. Reliability? That's another thing that all Toyota's share in common.
The Highlander looks great, better than the last version.

I do agree with you on the lights that stick out, don't like that at all.

I'd buy a KIA with its 100k warranty before the RAV4 nowadays. Kia is getting more respectable yet still cheaper

Kia and Hyundai have done more for their reputations in the last 10 years that any domestic manufacturer has ever done.
Not sure I'm ready to spend my money on one though.

We just bought a Kia Sorento last month for my wife. She loves it and I love the mpg. She had been driving a Suburban. I was pushing for a Pathfinder, though, but you can't beat the amount of car you get for the price of a Kia. And that warranty..

They've revamped the Sorento and their Optima, which is a super nice car.

Yep.

Looking fir something coming off a lease with a tow package for a very small boat, havent looked into sequoias.

Hope you'll give them a try.

We've been really happy with our two - plus we bought my youngest daughter one when she graduated. They are fine fine vehicles. We drive Landcruisers back in the 80s and 90s actually, but they've gotten too expensive.

We switched to 4Runners in the 2000s and we passed those down to the kids and bought our first Seqouia in 2008 I think it was then bought the second one a couple of yrs ago.

Lots of room. Good ride. Reliable as they come.
