Not sure about that one, some are nice and then you'll have one with a lady washing a birdcage out in a pool..
I find it's better to rent a house in the Surfside/Garden city area.. Jmo

Never been in the Sun and Sand, Ocean Reef and Dunes Village are solid hotels. A lot of it depends on how much you're trying to spend and what you're trying to do. Renting in Garden City or Surfside would be fine as long as you don't mind a 20-30 minute drive to Myrtle.

Horry County native here. Sun and Sand is near Springmaid so it isn't bad at all. You are right at Market Common, which is a nice shopping and restaurant district more similar to something in Mt. Pleasant than Myrtle Beach. I would certainly do lunch at Toffino's, which is right off Farrow Parkway before you get to Market Common. As for dinner, Angelo's is right down the road and is great. Villa Romana is a little further north on Kings Highway but is awesome. If you like German or Austrian food, Cafe Old Vienna is amazing. For good seafood, Horry's off Highway 9 in Longs is worth the 35 minute drive, but Sea Captains House is where I'd go if you want to stay close. For a soul food joint, Big Mike's on 16th Avenue North has the best meat n' three in the county. Hope this helps.
