what makes you say that? They got green shirts and sign up sheets and all of that stuff too.

PP is very low key for a reason. I can't imagine them street soliciting. Are you in super-liberal city?

Which is absurd. Most of their offices don't even perform abortion services. They do, however, provide important services that many women would not be able to afford otherwise.

I love how the ignorant masses like to pretend that they only thing they do is kill unwanted embryos.

I will say I had a conversation with a very nice and well spoken anti-abortion person about a month ago and he really swung me towards their side.

These streetcorner folks certainly say planned parenthood a lot so I guess it may not be them but I think it is.

ETA: prof I am in New Orleans.

quote:

Planned Parenthood is the largest U.S. provider of reproductive health services, including cancer screening, HIV screening and counseling, contraception, and abortion.[3][4][5] Contraception accounts for 35% of PPFA's total services and abortions account for 3%; PPFA conducts roughly 300,000 abortions each year, among 3 million people served

I don't disagree with your sentiment that most are ignorant of it. They are. They provide a lot of great services to lower income people that are spectacular.

The problem is that those who find the abortion part wrong, you are telling them to minimize the 3% they find despicable.

Extreme ridiculous Example: I work for the poor, do soup kitchens, donate to Salvation Army, volunteer to Heifer International, Peace Corp, rape kittens, eat vegan, coordinate Make a Wish, and serve on my United Way board.

All that good doesn't make up for the one atrocity.

Personally I'm more offended by the vegan thing than the kitten rape.

Never been asked for a donation by Planned Parenthood. But you can't go to a grocery store around here without somebody in front of the doors hitting you up for a contribution to something. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, military veterans, little league teams, law enforement and fire dept. organizations, band geeks, candidates for local political office, the Shriners, Salvation Army, the local daily newspaper selling subscriptions. Yeah, I've seen them, though.
