just watched them in order starting with revenge of he sith. I think the story goes better that way but #1 is kinda boring to me, so its a milestone I have to get over.

This is just plain wrong. It destroys one of the greatest twists in cinematic history. You start with the original, then Empire and so on.

Dang it! It would be cool if it was Kylo vs Jedi vs Sith. I just hope the Sith aren't extinct, they're the ultimate villains.

I hope they are. The Star Wars universe has such higher potential than just being "The Jedi vs the Sith". It would be the equivalent of the X-Men only facing off with the Brotherhood of Mutants. Yes, they are their arch nemesis, but there are so many other factors in the Str Wars universe to where I would like for them to get away from the Sith for some time.

Anybody here play "Knights of the Old Republic" back in the day? If so, have you noticed that the villain in this one bears a striking resemblance to Darth Revan?

Yes I had it on the first xbox and why the frick they haven't made a new one yet is infuriating. I loved that game.

That game was the shiz.

Played it 3 times and I could never choose the dark path at the end.

I agree, that was one of my favorite games. I enjoyed Mass Effect a few years ago too, which was by the same people.

Here's "Kylo Ren," the new Star Wars villain:

Here's Darth Revan:

Skip Phantom of the Menace and go from there. As good as the sequels are, I hate watching Revenge of the Sith and then A New Hope because the drop off in lightsaber battles.

You have to watch The Phantom Menace just to see badass Darth Maul.. And the Podracing.. I just look at the drop off in saber fighting as they are old as crap now. But, Yoda was nimble at hundreds .. Oh well, watch em all..

I hated the podracing part. I know they were trying to get at the whole "Anakin is the best star pilot to ever live" shite, but Lucas could have found something else or something much more intense than podracing. Also can't stand JarJar Binks. Ruined the movie for me completely.

They could have done the "Anakin was a great pilot when I met him" better, but the podrace scene is legitimately good (aside from those horrible announcers and Jar Jar occasionally talking). That was legitimately exciting in parts. I'd actually say it was the best part of the film.

Sorry, but Yoda jumping around like a chimpanzee is just ridiculous. Yoda should be so damn powerful in the Force that he shouldn't need a lightsaber (and this goes for the Emperor as well). Yoda didn't teach Luke anything to do with a lightsaber. I just figured Yoda was powerful enough to chop someone in half by just using the Force. Lifting the X-Wing was nothing for Yoda. He should have been on a level beyond that. In fact the Emperor subtlety insults both Vader and Luke over their use of lightsabers in Return of the Jedi.

I always thought this way too about Yoda. He didn't have to show how powerful and great of a jedi he was with his lightsaber skills, rather his intelligence and faith in the force. Mace Windu is a different story though. I loved watching him fight.

Idk, I was just hoping for something along the lines of Anakin escaping in his pod from Maul on his speeder. Something like that, but that wouldn't help them get the parts for their ship, so that wouldn't work. That whole movie kinda just frustrates me.

I definitely agree. Mace was a missed opportunity. He was clearly only there to be the catalyst for Anakin turning into Vader completely, but Lucas fricked that up so much. I would have personally had Anakin and Mace as big rivals who despise each other from the start. Mace then finds out about Padme, and has Anakin kicked out of Jedi order himself. And then in Episode 3, have Anakin, Mace, and Maul meet up at a random location, and have Anakin decide to murder Mace and try to blame it on Maul. Anakin doesn't get away with it and is outed, and at that point he's beyond redemption. That's what it should have been, not just accidentally chopping his hand off because "he loves Padme". Anakin wasn't seduced by the Dark Side in the prequels, he was tricked. So fricking lame.

Anakin shouldn't have ever been seen as a kid. He should have been in his early to mid-20s at the start of the prequels and actually been friends with Obi Wan. I'd say the single biggest frick-up in the prequels is Anakin and Obi Wan's relationship. Obi Wan was literally forced to train Anakin by his former master, which I'm sure was just toxic to their relationship. Obi Wan should have actively wanted to train Anakin and actually been friends with him like it's stated in the original trilogy. All they do is really yell at each other in the prequels.

I can count the parts of the prequels that were well done on one hand:

The Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon/Maul lightsaber battle
The coliseum bought between the Jedi and all the droids
Mace Windu
Emperor/Senator Palpatine
Anakin rage killing the sandpeople

I thought McGregor was very good as Obi-Wan but it was overshadowed by the abortions that were Portman and Christianson.

Too over-the-top.

I agree that the Coliseum had a good part, but it was when they didn't have their lightsabers. Once the Jedi came at large, it turned to shite.

Mace Windu

Completely miscast. If they were going for a wise master, go with Morgan Freeman or Forrest Whitaker. Samuel L Jackson is best when he's screaming. I would have gone for someone more Obi Wan's age, like say Idris Elba and just made him a simultaneous rival to both Obi Wan and Anakin, with Anakin being so delusional in the end he'd think Obi Wan would be happy with him murdering Windu.

quote:

Emperor/Senator Palpatine

Yes, the one thing done right. Something tells me that's why they cast an actor in his 30s to portray the Emperor since they knew they'd be doing to prequels in like 20 years and wanted the same actor.

quote:

Anakin rage killing the sandpeople

No, that's too early in his arc for mass murder.

He was a good choice, but sadly wasn't given anything to work with. I just find it sad and ridiculous he was a stick in the mud, when he should have been very reckless, and this recklessness feeds onto Anakin and helps him turn to the Dark Side. Anakin and Obi Wan should have had much more of a Magneto and Professor X relationship than anything else, and when they had to fight to the death at the end, both do so highly reluctantly knowing they don't have any other option.

Agree on all points. Anakin's transition to the dark side should have been laid out much better than the eventual "oh well I guess I'll turn to save my love"..fricking horse shite. Anakin's frustration and hatred of the council over-time should have changed him to the dark side. Once he wasn't granted Master, I think that should have been the turning point, which causes the domino effect to the dark side. That whole scene of him turning the Chancellor in, then changing his mind, then just giving up to the dark side was so demoralizing to watch in theaters.
