THIS shite RIGHT HERE. is the reason those of us normal people who are just proud to be southern, cant use the confederate flag any more as a symbol of southern pride.
These frickers right here are to blame. And its our fault. Decent people shoulda kicked these peoples asses a long time ago.

Yep.
These are the types of white people black people think about when it comes to the confederate flag, not the countless other "good" people who simply want to express Southern Heritage. When you only see people like them and Dylan Roof flying the flag, you automatically think that the only type of white people who fly this flag are dumb rednecks who hate black people and other minorities. You never get to see the other people.
Same thing happens with black people. When the media only shows us as the ghetto trash or the racist militant thugs or HIV riddled starving Africans its hard to convince people that not all black people are like this.

I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be as big of a push to remove confederate monuments if the KKK and other bigots hadn't tarnished their legacy.

There was a convoy of near 20 cars with Confederate flags rolling through Oxford, MS today. Even some black guys had flags on their trucks. I have no idea what went down I was headed to Mass.

I had a friend of mine who was a cop in Myrtle Beach for years, and whenever he broke up a fight or arrested on a disorderly, his first question was always, "So, what part of North Carolina are you from?"

In an interesting twist, when in town for my 101 year old GIL's funeral, my FIL dropped that her dad was KKK.
My wife and I stare for a second and he explains the KKK's roots in battles against northern carpetbaggers before it got as stigmatic regarding race that we know today.
