90% of the country isn't pretending to give a shite about anything if they don't really care. It's like The Master's in golf. A larger portion of the country watch that tournament than watch any non-major throughout the rest of the year. Doesn't mean they don't care about The Master's. They do.

In all seriousness, there seems this necessity to try and block Soccer from ever getting big in America. I have friends on my list who are the exact same way -- can't shut the frick up about it but seem to hate it.

It's absurd how much press this joke of a sport gets every four years just because of the US patches on our shitty team. It's absurd that being a soccer fan is suddenly "cool" and I can't get a CWS game turned on at a bar because some microbrew drinking counts with ironic mustaches that haven't ever played a sport in their lives were suddenly so invested in soccer.
It's annoying that people are pretending to watch this sport, but as soon as the US loses it'll all die back down.
