my point being that's your families fault lol. Your family had a choice and decided that out of all the possibilities, being sharecroppers were the best thing for your family. My family on the other hand was forced into it. I'm not saying you should be the president of the united states but your family tree has had probably over 1500 years to get it right, mine has had 1/10th of that time.
and your post is a red herring in general. I never said there was anything wrong with sharecropping. I'm simply stating it's unrealistic for an entire race of people to go from Kunti Kante to Bank of America CEOs in 5 generations

No, that's not what happened but you can keep on believing that. Yeah your family got a late and shitty start and worked out of it which is commendable, it shows it cam be done.

I mean, it's not like we shouldn't ever talk about it, but damn I've pretty much quit going downstairs to the poliboard because it's basically the Race Board at this point. It's discussed here more than I ever think about it irl (and minorities are usually quite cognizant of race out of necessity
). These discussions (not here, just ranting in general, I'm sorry everyone) usually devolve into both sides painting with the broadest brushes they can possibly get their hands on to make their respective points, until the crux of the debate is garbled beyond all recognition.
Take OP, for example. I can think of maybe ONE black person I've ever known who honestly demanded reparations. One. And the vast majority of black people are more interested in getting along with white people than making them feel guilty. I mean, think about it. It gets old after awhile.
And as for the whole "blacks sold blacks into slavery" thing, that's only because it was made profitable by traders. Africa is not a country. It is a continent. All dark-skinned folks down there weren't playing on the same team, no more than Europeans who conquered/enslaved each other ad nauseum. I mean, even attempting to assign blame to an entire race of people on one side or the other is asinine. The system of chattel slavery in which America participated was reprehensible. Thankfully we've done a 180 on race relations in this country, and regardless of the rabble-rousers of any hue, the progress we've made and continue to make with each passing generation is remarkable and unprecedented in the history of the world.
Dammit, I don't even know how to end this little tirade. Just a little rustled irl

i don't believe in reparations per say, in part because it would be impossible to calculate how much we should get, but i think that every afrian american should be automatically qualified for one interest free loan up to 50k in their live times to use on whatever they want. you want to use it on spinners that shite's on you. you want to use it to send your kid to private school that's on you too
