Went with this (SlingTV) starting this CFB season in lieu of cable. So far so good, get ESPN and SECN, plus HBO and other basic channels.

It definitely has its limitations, but so did Netflix 3 years ago.

All in all I think this is getting to be close to suitable substitute for cable TV. If you're considering, might be worth your time to try it out.

HD Antenna cost anywhere between 30-60 bucks and just goes on ground/wall right behind my flatscreen. Gets quality high-def picture CBS/Fox/ABC, only negative is I need to get a booster to get quality NBC. But all I really care about is CBS for SEC Saturday. All of the series on major networks I just get through a Hulu and Netflix subscription.

You can look online and find out what HD channels are available through digital channel from your location. If you're anywhere near a major city you'll have all. I live in a city of about 120k population, so mine are a little further out but still quality.

If I wanted DVR I can just do TiVo etc.

The only thing I'm concerned about is if it has Lifetime Network. I can't do without my original movies.

I've had Sling TV with the sports package.

Worked well last week, but for streaming football games, the watchespn app with the sling login worked a little better than the sling tv software.

I'm getting a fire stick shipped to me so I wonder if the quality on the sling app on the fire stick will work better.

But slingtv is awesome. Saving almost $100 a month like the others in this thread.

So, can you watch multiple stuff on separate TVs or is it one feed only?

I'll confess that this is a next level cheap bastard pathetic move, but you can do a free trial repeatedly with a different credit card. I got several free weeks with my credit card+wife's+debit card, etc.

I think it does if you're actually serious?

You won't regret. You have to adjust your way of thinking about TV to some extent because you view through apps instead of channels, but it is cheaper and you have more flexibility

THAT is what I consider the biggest limitation. Right now, just like Netflix in its inception, you can only watch sling on one TV. Remember, however, that sling is less than a year old. (It's owned by Dish).

Here's what I did last weekend. I watched CBS HD using my HD antenna on my flatscreen. And then I used the sling TV app on my iPad to watch ESPN/SECN. Then when the A&M game cam on, I just turned TV to sling ESPN.

It worked well.

I too am seriously considering doing this. My question is what is the minimum internet speed I would need?
