Because they may be awesome humans that need a little help within the moment..

Do you disagree with emergency rooms too?

Sorry I edited. Do I disagree with emergency rooms? No, why would I? That's where people who are dying on accident go to stop dying.

What if your wound was inflicted while incurring risk, or being intoxicated? You go there because you need help to continue living. Someone not in their normal mental state might need help too.

You get advice and assistance in every other facet of life so why not suicide as well?

I have a 2 year old and a great career, but about annually I have to medicate and take a 20 min ice cold shower due to either depression, mild TBI or something else war related. I would hope and owe the world if someone interviened if I blacked out of reason with a loaded gun. It is your life to live or cash in, but it's such a fricking waste in aome cases.. I have a friend who without a doubt would still be here had he not been intoxicated when he shot himself. Have also had a close coworker who read a text on his wife's phone and walked outside and blasted himself. 2 kids, degree, awesome Soldier.. Just a few minutes or breaths and it might had been different.

It's immoral if you don't interviene. That isn't what an improving civilization is about.

You must not know anyone that has committed suicide. Point is that you may not really want to, but for a brief moment you think you do based on something going on in your head that's out of your control.

I've talked 3 people in my life time out of doing it. Would they have backed out regardless if I helped or not? I don't know. Glad I didn't wait to find out. But the most amazing thing I've heard in my life was an adult that recognized my named in a grocery store. I had my student ID on my uniform. And she saw my name and thanked me for getting her daughter through a difficult time and she proceeded to hug me and cry. She said her daughter was at the lowest of lows. And that now she sees a genuine smile on her face everyday. I didn't even go out of my way to talk her out of it. We just talked on a daily basis and when we got comfortable, she started telling me about her depression and anxiety. I talked her through it and told her that life is long so bad days or even bad months/years don't equate to a bad life. I've been in the dumps before. It's a shitty feeling. Sometimes all you need is a person to talk you through it.

With that said, nothing in life is worth taking your own life over. Life is limited and you should live every moment in abundance. Because you can lose it at any given second.

It's definitely not something to be taken lightly. If you know someone that's even thinking about it, talk them out of it. Do what you have to do. Because once you're dead.. That's it. No going back to apologize or say your goodbyes. It's over. You might not think much of it if it's not someone you know too well. But just to know that you could've done something to save them, but you chose not to or procrastinated it... that's gonna take a toll on your mind. I promise you.

EL OH EL!

What world do you live in? I just read an article about ISIS sex slaves begging to be bombed. There's many things bad enough today that a quick out is the best option.

And if I just happened to talk to an ISIS sex slave, I'd try talking him/her out of it. Whether it worked or not.

We're all terminally ill. And the best we can hope for is years of pain leading to death.

It's coming. No reason to hasten it.

Well I do appreciate that Tbird and the same goes for you. I'm just pointing out that this thing that I believe, applies to me also. And if I did feel like it, I should be able to without the thought of a second thought from anyone. Just as everyone else should.

I would hope you would want to talk to your friends and family about the issues that make you think suicide is a solution, if that were the case.

I believe every life has a much greater purpose than just their life. You impact and guide other people throughout life with actions and in-actions.

I just feel that contemplating suicide has serious ramifications. At the least speak with others about your reasoning and see if they can provide an alternate perspective.

Not all suicide is the result of a long depression. Sometimes it's an unstable person reacting to temporary hard times or bad news. Yes, you should reach out and try. I have two friends who have sons that committed suicide over a breakup. Both sent out signals that were overlooked.

Depends. Seems most suicides are from kids struggling to find themselves or adults who have depression issues. That or tramatic events. I remember my father drowning and me having to Id his body after three days in a Florida swamp at 18. I can assure you the thought of a bullet came many times trying to remove that image from my mind and the pain. Luckily I had to be there for my sisters so I didnt, but if I didnt have anyone around helping me I probably would have.

My neighbor committed suicide a few years back. He had recently been on Chantix (quit smoking) and apparently that got him really depressed and he ended up getting into a fight with his wife and shooting himself in the head. I wish I had known and talked to him and got him help but no one had a clue he was depressed. His wife was a psycho as well so im sure that didn't help the situation. She had sent their kid to live with her mom and that guy loved his kid and she also was sleeping around. That being said, Chantix has some scary side effects.
