TAR-21s are definitely not being used even if the threat were legit. That's an Israeli rifle, and the only ones in the States are in the hands of the police or class 3 dealers.
I own a Tavor. And although I do own class 3 weapons, this is not one of them.

You're better than that GR. There was no need for posting like what he did during that moment. There was real concern and even saw where a posters daughter was under lock down. Do you think it was fake for him too? I agree the boards can sometimes go overboard on occasion but this was not one of those times.
ETA: I did read his posts and they were out of line under the circumstances.

I read a quote from another poster responding to him. That's all I needed to read. Keep defending a poster that is joking about a potential school shooting before havering any evidence it wasn't true. Yes I'm furious. Cock sucking, mother fricking, shite-tastic, count blowing twat head. Can you feel my anger? Please keep defending him.

I'm not defending anyone. I didn't see his comments. I'm wondering why the selective outrage from some people. Should be calling for that writer's head for using this situation to be witty, shouldn't you?
I have family on that campus and in that city. Thread title scared the shite out of me, but it became apparent that it sounded a bit overblown pretty quickly. Some of you got madder than me when Katrina jokes were made back in the day, so I made the observation. Didn't realize you would double down on this outrage and direct it to me. I'll leave you to your anger and grief.

What does a writer from an outside rag have to do with the SECR? As posters here we sometimes have a voice when we feel someone has crossed a line. Some posters here exercise that option and others do not.
You apparently have a high tolerance for foolish behavior when tragedy or possible dangerous situations arise. Maybe you should be a first responder. It doesn't matter if the situation turned out to be a prank there was no need for such comments at the time. It's pretty simple really.

Not at all. And by his ignoring the troll, you see that true concern doesn't take the time to worry about tasteless Internet jokes when a real situation is ongoing.
I didn't like the poster anyway, so I hope he is banned.

How do you know he ignored the troll? He could have been one of the ones who RA'd the poster. Anyway what's done is done. I for one was annoyed at the time and was wanting legit info. Glad others got him banned. He was a shitty poster as it was.

How the hell do rumors like this get started? Wtf?
Oh yeah, might want to update the OP to reflect the lack of a threat on campus.

Exactly. Hence my reaction of "Jesus, who gives a shite?" after two pages of calling a random troll a douchebag instead of talking about the situation. An RA is not disruptive or attention seeking.

what about starting help board threads over an obvious joke thread?
Posted on 9/22/14 at 8:10 am to MaroonNation
If this had been a real incident, you people posting the silly jokes would have looked like idiots.

I don't know what that means.

oh, it may have been the other dude with a name that is pretty much the exact same with yours then. Just would have been an ironic post.

Well I told the guy to GTFO and I wasn't looking for attention. Not everyone is looking for attention when calling someone out. For myself, I get enough of that as a gigolo for plus sized women.
So that I'm getting this straight the fact you are making an issue out of others outrage over someone's foolish comments. Is this you looking for attention the last couple of pages calling people out?

Must have been. I've literally never been to the sec help board. I've also never down voted or RA'd on here.

Final word
A Message From the President:
Last night, The University of Alabama received an unconfirmed report of armed individuals in the vicinity of Tutwiler. The information was sent to UAPD from an external law enforcement agency who had been contacted by a parent whose daughter had heard it from multiple other students who had seen social media posts. No eye-witness or first-hand knowledge of the alleged threat was reported to UAPD or any law enforcement agency.
UAPD responded to Tutwiler within 1 minute of receiving the information, and promptly confirmed that reports of armed individuals were not accurate. However, in an abundance of caution, UAPD conducted a thorough search of Tutwiler.
Residents of Tutwiler were asked to stay in their rooms while the search was conducted. Due to the size of Tutwiler and the thoroughness of the officers’ search, this process took about 45 minutes. No weapons or unauthorized individuals were found in Tutwiler or in the vicinity. Students were never in danger.
I can assure you that UA will always respond quickly and notify the campus community when you need to take immediate action. In this case, no one was in danger and immediate action was not required.
We understand that the time it took to be cautious was concerning to students and their parents, faculty and staff, and I want to reiterate that we will always put your safety and security first. UAPD will continue to investigate the situation.
