Who are these 17 million "kills" attributed to Hitler? Last I checked the tolls it was 8 million in the death camps. (Of course in 1950 it was 4 million; in 1960 it was 5; in 1970 it was 6...) Quite liberally accounting for another million of the mentally ill and/or those suffering from birth defects, we're nowhere near 17 million. ???
I mean it can be argued that he started a war that killed 55 million people. I'm thinking it's either 9 million (or less) or 55 million attributed to Adolf. Where they got 17 million leaves me SMH.
I'm thinking that number was pulled out of some well-intended idiot's arse to put Hitler ahead of Leopold II (with 15 million), and keep him in the Top 3. Revisionist History (i.e. Outright Lies) for the sake of making a better world. ???

The Nazis top my list. Their genocide had purpose and they actually believe in a "Master Race" non-sense.
Plus, I'd argue you could put 50 million additional deaths on Hitler shoulders since he was the biggest reason World War II happened. Now, perhaps Stalin starts it later and tries to expand West, but it was Hitler who struck first.

Russian Jews committed mass murder, a holocaust, on Russian Christians.
The rise of Nazism and the start of WW2 was predicted, nearly to the day, 20 years in advance.
When calling Nazi's evil, which they were, a lot has to be considered.

That fact has actually been shown to be anything but fact.
More evidence shows the death count was much less.

I dunno. I think that the treaty of Versailles was so unfair, at least in the minds of most Germans, and that the German and larger European political systems were so charged after World War One that another war, even a world war, was inevitable from the start. Hitler had little to do with it.
On the end of WW1/Versailles:

So yea, the war was bound to happen. The whole Holocaust thing was all Nazi though. Versailles was the biggest reason for WW2, it was a halftime whistle, not a post game box score.

"Fact" depends on who's presenting it. If you watch a documentary on the Nazis that was lately produced by a New Yorker (oh, now I'm anti-New York?!?!?!)-- as are most of them these days-- it might tell you that Hitler celebrated Crystal Night. Then you read a book that was written by--say-- a Brit forty years ago and it will claim that Hitler was embarrassed and disgusted by the actions of Crystal Night.
There's no such thing as fact it seems. In New York right now he killed 7 million Jews.
